COVID-19 is bad enough on its own, with the U.S. set to surpass 100,000 deaths by the end of next week. But in the race to open up, what happens when lines are crossed?
Florida has been manipulating data for weeks, particularly in their nursing homes. Georgia was caught usimg their data out of chronological order, pretending to illustrate a more favorable picture for re-opening. These are two bordering states, heavily tied into tourism and other economic sectors.
This is precisely why a federal response was and is needed, to prevent the public from being misled by ambition and political manipulation. A single point of leadership to demand that this willful misuse of the public trust won't be tolerated. We have to be able to trust tbe science, but what if we can't trust the people in charge?
