If the minor leagues are going to be cut way back, then teams like the Padres who need to develop from within their own system, will be at a considerable disadvantage.
I’m starting to lose interest, these labor squabbles are boring and pointless.

Where last week, Manfred was positive there would be MLB baseball this season, he no longer has that optimism. Frankly, neither do I.

I’m not throwing dirt on this season yet, however if it turns out there is no baseball this summer, it will set the game back 15 years. The days of $30+ million dollar contracts will be gone. I feel badly for guys like France, Tatis, Cordero, Mejia, Paddock and Gore who need an opportunity to build on successes experienced last year or simply will lose a portion of their developmental window to success.
It looks to me like both sides are WAY OVER LEVERAGING their bargaining positions. I understand the health concerns, however it is crucial that baseball maintains the financial momentum they have been building the past 15 years. This will throw all of that away.
The eyes of this riot plagued nation will be on them.

A tweet from Paige Spiranac (as reported in the SD U-T today)--"I know absolutely nothing about baseball but even I know Rob Manfred sucks."

60-65 games at full pro-rated salary. Tentative start date--July 19th.
In a related note, that pretty much assures any sort of minor league season will not be played. So...let's get going with the expanded Arizona (and Florida) Fall League. Every MLB team has a team of their top prospects playing in their Spring Training parks. There has also been some talk of another, lower-level prospect league in the fall as well. Maybe 45-50 games. Get these prospects playing.

I doubt that it's practical to be launching a sport in those two areas. The guys at MadFriars and myself are trying to organize a Peoria trip next month. But we just have zero idea what anything will look like from one day to the next.

Let’s see.....
25k patrons per game X $30 average admission = $750,000. in gate receipts PLUS another $450,000 in concessions, parking and various other revenues, this means MLB will be missing $1.2 mil per game, so in a 68 game season without fans = $81,600,000/2 = $40,800,000 lost revenue per team based on just 34 home games. (Just a rough estimate of course, my figures could be wildly low)
That’s a lot of revenue being lost to Covid 19..........billions in fact, not even counting the restaurants, bars, Uber rides, cab fare, and other satellite businesses which benefit from a home game.

Teams will get broadcast revenue, which should help defray their losses. And quite frankly, I really don't think any MLB team cares very much about all the other stuff you mentioned, unless of course, they own any of those businesses. The big money they are after is the playoff $$ from the networks, and with all the billions MLB has raked in the last decade, you need not shed a tear for the owners.

It's nowhere near as much as people think. They just signed a billion dollar TV deal a couple days ago. They'll be absolutely fine without the gate revenue.

60 games? Hmm.
I wonder if Yahoo would even bother having a fantasy season, LOL. My buddies and I enjoy it every year.

According to ESPN, the players want more than 60 games. If the season starts around July 18th, you aren't going to be able to get much more than 60 games in, since the owners want the regular season to end Sept. 27th.

Oops. Philadelphia and Toronto have closed their spring training facilities for the time being out of Coronavirus concerns.
