Hmmmm...just saw this on Facebook. This kind of came out of nowhere. He's not Anselem, but his highlight video shows some skills, and at 6-9 he has a body to grow into. Built like Jalen McDaniels. Probably a preferred walk on a bit of a project?

I’d imagine he’s a walk on

If we are still in the running for Frank Anselem this makes no sense unless he's walking on. If we have been told Anselem is down to two other programs then I guess add some height for depth.

Obviously an invited walk-on; never hurts to have 3 if not 4 tall guys. With him, Caleb & Barnett that's a solid trio of WO's, assuming the other 2 are returning.
They may have offered him a conditional scholarship, that is if we have an open scholarship next year he may get it. But I believe as a WO he won't have to sit a year due to transfer, but not 100% sure on that?

It makes a lot of sense, not only bolstering the practices, yet allowing the starter to know that we will not be demanding 40 minutes a game, every game out of him.

Red shirted at Seattle U as a Freshman, as a non-scholarship player I assume he has to sit again, unless the NCAA Transfer chnages? Parker U'u had to sit when he came from Hartford to SDSU as a walk-on. Assume the same for Alger.

He looks better then your average walk on. He can shoot, is athletic, has grown from 6' 8" to 6' 10" since that high school video was released. He's a late bloomer still growing into his body. I think this kid will grow his game going against Nathan every day on the scout team, and I wouldn't be surprised if he gets backup minutes as a junior or senior.

Played (started) as Quarterback for his HS football team, so he can take some hits... makes me think he has the potential to develop into a pretty good 'stretch-four' by his Junior year.

Sort of an insurance policy (this year) if we dont get a young big HS recruit this year. We have Mensah's 20-25 minutes, Tomaić to play 10-15 and Alger to mop up. 15 fouls to give a game.

Depth and practice fodder. If the squad makes another run for the championship, he gets a ring. Oldie Out

Mensah 20-25, Tomiac 10-15, AG 5-10 & Keshad to mop up before Alger even sees the floor IMO. He'll be 5th string, and maybe even be behind Matt at center if push came to shove.

Can't tell how quick he is but he looks like he has pretty good skills for his size.

Can't tell how quick he is but he looks like he has pretty good skills for his size. I doubt he’s coming to SDSU to play in garbage time, he must be fairly coordinated for a guy who’s 6-10, to play multiple sports in HS. I think he must believe that if he specializes in basketball that he can compete for minutes. It may take a year but it just depends how hard he’s willing to work. I have not watched any tape yet, full disclosure..

He was league POY, played QB, 29" vert with 5.0 40. But those are just the background. This kid can ball. He has a smooth crossover step back three. That's much, much nicer than Narain who struggled with his footwork. I actually like his game more than Tomaic - especially if he can throw down some Big Macs.
GREAT signing for a walk on!
