Not sure if this has been posted J. Harris- Nevada has decided to stay in the NBA draft Any guesses for starting lineups for BSU , USU , UNLV Harris looks like he is staying in the draft, or FA to play professionally.

Yea, he's been committed to the draft for a couple months, and he's been mentioned as a late 2nd round pick in several mocks. Had he come back UNR would be among the leading contenders next year, and he'd be among the top 3 POY candidates. But money calls, and his stock isn't going up by staying. They do have some good pieces, especially inside, but there will be a lot of pressure on Cambridge to deliver. I think they'll be a little too young this year. Just not enough upper classmen and no seniors. If Sherfield can get a waiver to play immediately that would help. Otherwise, Cambridge may end up playing out of position or they may have to play a FR at the point.

He was unconscious that night(7-11 from 3). I remember that sick feeling of dread in the pit of my stomach as we walked out of Viejas. We had already been beaten that month by USD and Cal, both games we thought we would win. And then we lost 3 of our first 5 conference games. What a throwaway year it seemed like. But even with all that, we were only a 7-point loss in the MWC Tournament final to USU away from March Madness. Other than Devin Watson, we were 2-16 from 3 that night. Dutch was coaching great back then, a bunch of us (me included) just didn't realize it.

Plus what teams are bringing the best new talent -all transfers - HS guys

Interesting rankings. CSU has q lot of good, young talent, and it's easy to forget they finished near the top last year. Just a game out of 2nd. Roddy was a monster, and their guards are quick with range. If Thomas can step up... I dont think there's any doubt Alston comes back to Boise, which makes them very dangerous. They may have more growing pains early than most, which could hurt them. But by March I expect them to be very good.

appreciate the article
Think the decision time for Undergrads to come back is by around 8/3- Alston Matt M
Also wonder if NCAA approves more waivers for guys that have applied to let them play this year rather then make them sit a year

Vante Hendrix is playing at Navarro College in Texas. Guess he took Trey's spot? Famous for telling UNM HC Wier "Gimmie my transcripts" when Wier subed him out. How many schools has he played for: Utah, Fresno, UNM & now Navarro College. 4-star player = zero

Going the JC route makes sense for him this year, since he's already used a RS season at Utah & would have had to sit out again had he gone to a D1 program. Now he can play, although you have to wonder if he'll have another blowup & walk out yet again? Dude is toxic, but you know if he can keep his head on straight at Navarro he'll still be in demand next spring. Someone's always willing to take that risk.

In HS at Birmingham Charter he was known as Devante Doutrive, was Vante Hendrix when he arrived at Utah. The only constant with him is change, was projected to be an All PAC12 player at 6'5 190, 4 years later he is playing at a Juco? Perhaps Navarro will humble him some, but I wouldn't count on it. He'll have one season left to make a mark. How any GMs around the world will take a chance on him at the next level?

Navarro is a JC, so you can't be a 3rd year player there. I believe he'd have to be a RS Soph to be eligible, like Drinnon (another NM kid who transferred there). Per NJCAA rules, to be eligible they may "have not previously competed in their first two or more years of intercollegiate competition". I'd think if Hendrix is in fact going there he probably got a waiver & is a RS Soph from an eligibility perspective. In theory, everyone who comes out of a JC has 2 or 3 years of eligibility remaining, not just 1. Luckily with knuckleheads like him at his age they can mature, and if he does & is talented enough, someone will take a chance on him at the collegiate & pro levels.

Vante Hendrix coming full cricle back to the Valley where he played HS ball at Cal State Northridge under Mark Gottfried

He could shine there.

He could shine there. I agree how can have 2+ years of NCAA experience and go back to Juco. Birmingham HS is just down the road from Cal State Nowhere. If Gottfried can get through to him, and Vante doesn't melt down the Matadors is a good choice. Assume his family is local as well. They could be a stabilizing factor.

UNMs Zane Martin finishing at Towson State, where he started his college career what does that say about UNM? Philly kid, had no interest in playing for Coach Wier.
