Local kids going home. Good for both Fresno and MWC. Need bottom of the MWC to get better. San Jose needs to step up and make a commitment to sports or get out of the hell out of the league or be thrown out. As unfortunate as it is, I would rather have New Mexico State in the MWC. They have made a commitment to sports and are good in BB although football has a ways to go.

Not sure why Singleton is listed as a SG because he certainly isn't. He took 1(!) 3-point shot all last year and missed it. His FT% was 53.8.
I watched his recruiting video on the Lobo site. His FG% was 54% because he posted up a lot of much smaller, slower JC guards.
His Assist-TO ratio is 1.5 which ranked him 389th in JC players last year.

Tough loss for Coach Hut, that's despite the transfers. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound SG posted his top five includes BYU, California, St. Mary's, Missouri and Washington State.
As a freshman this season, Hyder averaged 9.1 points, 3.1 assists and 2.6 rebounds in 31.9 minutes. He started in 24 games for the Bulldogs.

They now have two very good PGs, the other one a grad transfer from DePaul. Harding will be a great replacement for Hyder.

UNM's Vante Hendrix, Out ... Again. Utah to > New Mexico to ? somewhere elase that will put up with him. 3rd school in 3 years, changed his name once. Good luck son.

And don't forget after being shown the door at Utah, Hendrix committed to Frenso St., then decommitted before transferring to New Mexico.

He's actually a real physical talent but he's such a head case with a big temper problem. I read their fan board and it's sad to hear so many of them try to justify keeping talented players who have legal or teammate issues.
When Malachi declared a couple days ago, they were all over how much this brings SDSU "back to the pack". The thing is, they're not even in the pack any more.

Weir basically sat Hendrix at home for multiple games without giving a explanation, this was clearly always going to happen

addition for the Lobos by subtraction- not exactly a team player so they get another scholarship to

Zach Chappell will be transferring from San Jose St. Isn't it time to relegate SJSU to the Big West or DII CCAA? They should be playing CSU schools: Chico, East Bay, Monterey Bay, Humbolt, Dominguez Hills, and San Marcos. Even UCSD moved into the Big West, expand with SJSU.
Or move them into the WAC where they can win 50% of their games. Being Ranked #300+ or worse hurts us all.

Losing Chappell doesn't hurt them that much - he'd fallen in their rotation (played 4 minutes in Vegas); Anigwe hurts, but at least they return their top 3 players & should have a little better talent around them. Wyoming has Maldonaldo, Marble & Thompson, but new coach, etc. Both teams definitely need to get better - at least low 200's. If Wojcik doesn't get himself canned SJSU may already be mid-pack, who knows? That was when they really tumbled. But I like Prioleau. Good guy. Hope he turns them around, but if the transfer market opens up further it's going to be hard for ANY lower tier team in ANY conference to make strides.

New transfer rules will be the death of a struggling & up-and-coming mid-major program. 7 guys jumped from CSUN. SJSU loses their best players every year. Santa Clara lost 5 with 2 to USC and Note Dame. UAB changes the coach and they 9 guys in the pool, and so on and so forth. I don’t know what the answer is but its going to hurt the MW mid & lower tier schools. While the best teams reload. It looks like the average MWC team loses 3 guy per year (FSU -6, Wyo -5, UNM -5, USU -3, UNLV -3, SDSU -1, CSU-1, Nev -1) etc.. thats about 25% attrition not counting graduation. Tough situation.

Considering the average is just under 3 per team nationally (& may get to 4) I'd say we're no different than anyone else. And again, not that many impact losses, other than Hyder, Walker, Jackson, Hardy & maybe Porter (although at 5 PPG??). I wouldn't count the others as big losses, including Hendrix (head case). And the good news is neither SJSU nor Wyoming have lost any of their core players. They've managed to hold on, with no major defections. AF will probably take a BIG step backwards, losing Walker & all their seniors, but other than them hopefully the bottom of the conference should be stabilizing.
