Watching the game on ESPN2 and Im starting to believe that our arena was poorly designed. During halftime they showed highlights of the Illinois vs Mich St game and those Illinois fans were right there practically on the court and you can feel the intensity. You can see it had a huge impact. Our seats (just like our football stadium) are too far from the court. Our walk way should not be around the court. There shouldn't even be a walk way like that. The seats should be starting right there a few feet away from the hoop. Our arena looks pretty bad from the TV. Doesn't feel like a college environment. It's more of a laid back casual fan place based on the dimensions.

We are shooting worse than NM. Winning because of turnovers and free throws. Also, how does UNM have no FTs so far? Seems impossible.

I see your point. Basketball is the only sport where the fans are right next to the the playing area with no natural separation. People are idiots and I always fear a spark that leads to an inferno. While it looks good, I just fear for the worse because the worst seems to always happen. Bu it does look cool. |

I am talking about a bystander watching it on tv. Doesn't look all that great - while other programs that are normally aired on ESPN and such have their arena set up for basketball. We have our dimensions set up for concerts and large events - takes away from the environment for basketball games. I've been to a game in Cameron Indoor. You are right there on top of the court - $#!+ gets insane in there. It's much more spread out in our arena. From the perspective of the TV, a kid growing up wanting to place college basketball isn't going to be taken by the site of a game of ours on TV like they would be from a place like Cameron Indoor and the dozens of other arena set up like that. |
