Looks like a costly blunder.

I guess not every ship design is going to be like The Fletcher Class destroyers, however this blunder is a little disquieting.

Learn the lessons of failure and design a better ship. Fortunately the US Navy has the resources to do this. If this were a poorer country, like Iran for example, they might be stuck with a lesser design for a while (or until they came apart at the seams).
