Mejia is the starting catcher, Reed was traded weeks ago as the PTNBL in the Profar deal, Trammell is going to be in the minors. For all that winning LA does, it sure hasn't amounted to much. Empty banners and visiting teams celebrating in Chavez Latrine. The Padres organization would change places with the Dodgers even without any recent banners in a New York Yankee minute. Bold statement there considering the media market, TV deal and unlimited resources.

Bold statement there considering the media market, TV deal and unlimited resources. Exactly my point. Also, let's not forget about the evidence that has been exposed that might be the reason for the Dodgers not raising anymore banners recently. The Dodgers have had some bad luck that's for sure. But seven straight division titles and two pennents in that span doesn't exactly suck. So yeah, I'm guessing the Padres wouldn't mind having that problem.

Preller is going lose his window in getting this deal done. He has young unproven players oozing with potential in spades and seems to be lacking the resolve to pull the trigger. If he can’t bring in another established SP the next best thing is bring in a elite bat who contributes everyday. Naylor, Grisham, Myers, Franchey, Trammell, Reed, Margot, Mejia.....that’s a lot of ham ‘n egger type OF hitters to be collecting dust on your bench. How many of these guys do you need?? Pick 3-4 and deal the rest. Same thing with starting pitcher, although it might be a good idea to have Quantrill or Morejon around when Richards gets put back on the shelf after his 5th start. Bottom line, it looks like The Los Angeles Dodgers will hoist another star over the SoCal baseball landscape while the Padres trot out another average edition. Mejia is the starting catcher, Reed was traded weeks ago as the PTNBL in the Profar deal, Trammell is going to be in the minors. For all that winning LA does, it sure hasn't amounted to much. Empty banners and visiting teams celebrating in Chavez Latrine. Right, let me ponder this statement awhile..... 106 wins vs 70. And it’s been that way for damn long time, even with Preller’s dazzling baseball acumen leading the franchise forward to......70 wins. Something needs to change. San Diego built this team a great stadium and in return it’s been nothing but mediocre baseball and lame brained front office decisions.

The evidence is that Dave Roberts is a terrible playoff manager, can't navigate a bullpen to save his life. Game 7 wasn't in Houston or Boston.

Betts and Price to LA, as surmised.

Not surprised.
Future HOF players probably don’t want SD on their resume.

"I’m sure Padres fans are disappointed that their team didn’t land Betts, but if the primary motivation for Boston was to save money rather than add young talent, San Diego probably didn’t stand a chance. The Padres still have plenty of prospects to swing another deal, now or at midseason, although their playoff odds for 2020 just took a hit. Their best path to contention this year is through the wild card, and they may be just as likely to get there through progress from their young core rather than trading a bunch of prospects for another veteran star — and the Dodgers will likely lose Betts to free agency after the season while lacking payroll flexibility as long as the current luxury tax system is in place. It’s not much of a silver lining for Padres fans but it’s all I’ve got for you right now." theathletic.com/1585534/2020/02/05/law-untangling-the-three-team-trade-thats-sending-mookie-betts-to-la/

Joe Maddon had some TERRIBLE decisions in his past, specifically in the 2016 WS that they won.

Not surprised. Future HOF players probably don’t want SD on their resume. Yeah, it had nothing to do with the Dodgers taking on nearly 60 million in payroll.

Roberts going to Kershaw when he did was one of the dumbest things I have ever seen.

The Red Sox are picking up roughly half of Price's contract.

The Minnesota Twins have backed out of the Betts deal due to injury concerns of one of the players involved.
The Mookie trade is on hold.
