Another one bites the dust. Although not suspended (for now), Carlos Beltran has stepped down as manager of the NY Mets.

Reports surface that Astro players wore “devices” in order to tip off pitches.
Ok, these bozos watched one too many episodes of MASH or Hogan’s Heroes.

now reports of buzzers being used by the Astros and Yankees. how good are these teams really? do these organizations just have better cheating mechanisms? how does this effect the numbers? analytics overall?

Prediction: There will be a record number of hit by pitches this season.
Pitchers are upset.

Doesn't really change the analytical process, just means that baseball has a major PR problem where they turn a blind eye to this stuff in exchange for increased revenue and eyeballs.

It’s interesting that MLB chooses to punish scapegoats like managers & gm’s but doesn’t have the backbone to take on the real perps aka the players. I would hope they are reviewing past footage in order to get a clearer picture of what happened, just taking away draft picks is a joke......punishing a team for transgressions of past players who are no longer with the organization is laughable.
It’s also interesting that the umpires either let this stuff happen or were completely oblivious, which is far worse. One casual stroll to a manager verbally warning that any suspicious sounds coming from the dugout could result in forfeited outs or games would have ended this bush league garbage in its tracks.
Bring back the spit ball or secretly raise the mound 2 inches, see how the hitters like skulduggery.

None of this probably comes out at all otherwise, since it took a player coming forward in Fiers for anything to get done.

And meanwhile others (not protected by a union) have their careers destroyed. These guilty players as it stands, have zero balls in their collective jocks. A penitent gesture from them, (donating first 2 weeks salary to charity) would go a long way to smoothing over some ruffled feathers.
