I was 125 pounds as a Freshman but 150 when I graduated. There is a lot of growing that takes place in those years. I was 170 when I graduated SDSU but 215 when I retired from the Navy. There is a lot of growing that takes place in those years too :-)

Also started lifting weights around 17 y.o. By the time this young man graduates H.S. he will not be the same physical specimen he is today. I'll bet Lamont is quite a bit more solid than he was as a freshman.

I think this is a discussion about nothing. His weight is fine. If you look at him, he doesn't even look all that skinny compared to tons of other kids his age. The speculated weight of 125 is likely way off and shouldn't have been included

would say that more important then his weight is if he is still interested in the Aztecs when he is looking to sign with schools

Rhode Island is a solid program and I believe his family has some ties there That's true, his parents are from the east coast and he has family ties to URI MBB HC David Cox & staff, who Chance told me recruited him hardest! Also he didn't want to disappoint Aztec Nation, but was happy with URI and is looking forward to NCAA DI ball.

Thanks for clarifying. He was a kid I was wishing to replace Jordan. Too bad he made a decision to leave Cal. Wish the kid the best.

Plus, the one position which tends to have a lot of players available via the transfer wire is the wing. This kid would have had to compete with Dinwiddie. Not sure he'd beat him out, and may have had a few years as the 7th/8th man. If his odds of starting sooner at RI are greater he probably made the wise choice.

Che's a better shooter, trouble is he has injuries to overcome. But the kids work ethic has been hands down awesome. Do you think KJ should play 20 feet away from the basket? IMO, that would be a waste if he wasn't in an attack position.

He's a classic 3/wing with athleticism & speed, and a very nice stroke. He's like Matt in that he can play the 3 or 4, but his natural position is a 3 & especially the position he'd play at the next level. Still needs to improve his handles, but he's definitely more than capable of playing outside. Has been since he got here.

We all know he has shown flashes of athleticism and ability that get us excited. I am really looking forward to seeing it with some consistency because at this point it just seems to come in quick bursts. The young man just screams potential and I hope we see it on full display and every game by end of the season. I do get the feeling it may not come until next year but man that young man can ball.

What I'm most pleased about is the fact he only missed 3 practices & 1 game due to contact tracing. Was extremely pleased to hear Dutch say he was practicing & will be there today. The last thing he needs is to miss PT. What we saw vs. UC Irvine is what I know I saw in practice several times last year, and I've heard even more so this year. It's taking it to the game and not getting sped up. He has the ability to take over games. His issue is knowing when it's OK to do so. Very excited by his potential. I've been saying since early last year that I see Jalen McDaniels in him. I see his last year = Jalen's RS year, and this year potentially being equal to Jalen's RS FR year when he started slow then absolutely exploded onto the scene after 10 or so games. The difference being THIS team is deeper inside, so a tougher bridge to cross. Like Jalen, I hope to see KJ just play a specific role this year, then next year really, really expand his game on the court like Jalen did. The questions around his game aren't related to talent, which he has in abundance, but instead maturity. Can he get fully comfortable in the offensive & defensive schemes, while allowing the game to come to him & not forcing things?

Need a big if Mensah doesn’t return and a PG who can score. Butler is a defensive guy who has problems with his dribble.

Need a big if Mensah doesn’t return and a PG who can score. Butler is a defensive guy who has problems with his dribble. There are many considerations. we have 10 returning scholarship players, plus Nathan, so 11 players and 13 available scholarships. RETURNERS 1. M. Bradley SG 6'4 220 Super Senior (5th yr) 2. A. Seiko CG 6'3 210 Super Senior (5th yr) 3. C. Baker Mazara SF/SG 6'7 180 Sophomore 4. L. Butler CG 6'2 200 Sophomore 5. K. Johnson PF 6'7 220 Junior 6. D. Johnson C 6'10 215 RS Freshman 7. J. LeDee C/PF 6'9 240 RS Junior 8. M. Byrd SG/SF 6'6 175 Freshman 9. E. Saunders 6'8 230 Freshman 10 K.Dinwiddie 6'1 185 Sophomore - assume he transfers 11 N Mensah 6'10 225 Super Senior (5th yr) - assume he leaves
