It's unbelievable that Vista isn't the #1 seed in Division 2. Hell, they're not even the #2 seed, despite a tougher schedule and a bunch of blowout wins (and probably the game of the year in the San Diego Section with their comeback win against the Poway Titans).
That's OK, though, they get a bye and a home game next week. This should be fun!

Watch out for El Camino. They're peaking at the right time and are incredibly explosive. Recently just beat Oceanaide AT OCEANSIDE, in their highly contested rivalry game. El Camino is peaking at the right time and blowing out their opponents in their first two CIF playoff games. They have been extremely battle tested all year by playing in a VERY tough division and battling every game and never getting blown out. Watch out Vista!!! Should be a very good game.

El Camino started the year off with a Senior QB who struggled, and lost games for them. They finally put in their Sophomore QB and while he's made some Sophomore mistakes, he's actually played quite well. Looking forward to it. Should be close.

Well, that's what I was afraid of.
Vista didn't look right last week after the first round bye (out of sync, lacking in intensity and cohesiveness), and that carried over to this game. El Camino played a big role in that (their lines played really well), but Vista just didn't look the same. They lost their groove and their mojo during the bye week, and El Camino was probably the one team in Division 2 that could have beaten them.
El Camino will likely win the D2 title, and that's a great thing for them - like Vista, El Camino went through a lot of tough years.
It's just disappointing that Vista's first really good season since 2010 ends this way. 6 non winning years in a row (5 of them losing years) until last season was tough for fans of Panthers football, and it would have been nice to get all the way back. With all three starting running backs (all great backs) graduating next June Vista will likely struggle again next year. The JV wasn't very good this year, either, so there isn't going to be a ton of Junior talent next season for the Panthers.
I'm predicting 6-4 in the regular season and maybe a first round playoff win for the 2020 Panthers.

They all have good body control. El Camino's Noah Sega had an incredible game. He had 4 touchdowns, 3 on offense and 1 on defense. The one on defense was the interception for a TD with around 30 seconds to go in the first half, which completely deflated Vista. Sega is just a Junior along with their other bruising RB Malauulu. Their QB is just a Sophomore so they should do very well next year as well. Their next opponent, Bishop's of La Jolla are undefeated. Their QB is a Junior who has already committed to Notre Dame so they have a high powered offense. They beat Poway 52-51 so maybe their defense isn't the greatest. El Camino needs to keep that QB off the field with their running game. Should be a good one.

Bad play call at that point in the half, and a really bad decision by Bennett to throw it. But I'd love to see Flores and Taua in the Red and Black next year! Thunder and Lightning!

They were down 45-20 at the half. And, they did it in the CIF Championship Game!!! They outscored Bishop's something like 55-15 in tbe second half. Incredible!!! On top of that, they scored the most points (75) in San Diego History in a title game. Unbelievable!!! On to the state regionals baby!!!

Did anyone play defense in that game??? That comeback sounds as impressive as Vista's against Poway earlier this year. Vista was down by 23 (Poway 42 - Vista 19) with only 20 minutes left in the game, and they won on a Desmond Taua TD run with 3 seconds left on the clock! (Final score Vista 46 - Poway 42) Two all time comebacks in the same year. As I noted on Twitter - El Camino is the real deal. I was worried about them before the Vista game, and then I knew they'd win the D2 title when they beat Vista last week.

Yes, that was a great comeback Vista had against Poway as well. It's amazing that EC outscored them 55-15 in the second half. That says something about EC's coaching staff and the adjustments they made at halftime. By the way, that Junior QB for Bishop's is the real deal. No wonder he's already committed to Notre Dame.
