Him spending another 18 innings at Amarillo is meaningless. His development is not going to be influenced by a couple more starts against AA hitters. If it were not for the blisters, he is very likely up already at this point. You're talking about a kid who had a 0.56 road ERA across 2 leagues as a 20 year old, the second youngest pitcher in both behind only his teammate, another future stud in Luis Patiño. I would still bet on him spending some time in the minors at this point, but with him probably capped at 150 innings or so, I wouldn't waste too many bullets in Texas. If he can’t get hitters out at AA, he certainly won’t have success in the bigs. We are arguing In a circle. The bottom line: This is a decision for Tingler, Preller and Rothschild, not some dudes on Aztecmesa. Preller and Chris Kemp, essentially. I'm sure he will be kept in Amarillo to preserve his innings and is up by June, if not earlier. I would just let him break camp with the team, but I don't know if they will be quite that aggressive. All depends on how his spring goes.

The FA starting pitchers are gone. The only option left is a trade......Syndegaard, Bieber, Ray, Clevenger, Stroman, Price, how much would the Padres be willing to trade to get one of these guys?
Win or bust in 2020 right?

Win or bust in 2020 right? No. Seidler already stated the opposite. The majority of those guys are unavailable. They don't want to trade from within their 5. They view those guys as impact pieces in the window of contention. John Sickels, who used to write for Vox Media (now for the Athletic), had all 5 in his top 50 when he published his list. I would be shocked if they traded any of the bunch.

Twins sign Rich Hill and Homer Bailey...signing Hill to essentially pitch a partial season. But I'm guessing we won't need to talk about that.

Just bumping this thread based on one of the players mentioned in the initial post.
The NY Mets have announced that Noah Syndergaard will undergo TJ Surgery on March 26th.

The Padres organization has 5 of the last 50 surgeries (all pitchers). Tied for the early lead in the clubhouse with Seattle. The curse of Peoria??

The curse of Peoria?? 4 of the 5 (excluding Warren) have mechanical/delivery issues that are usually a precursor to forearm/elbow issues. Just a string of bad luck in a season that's destined to be a shortened affair.

That's an awful lot of "bad luck". The club is fortunate they have lots of pitching. It really isn't. The Angels have lost a ton of guys the last few seasons, for example. The Mets entire starting rotation has had Tommy John, just more spread out.I think Muñoz and Lawson both could have opted for non-surgical routes, but it really makes sense given they are unlikely to play more than 100 games this year. No real downside minus the usual development time lost.
