Toronto is cold but it's a fantastic, modern, cosmopolitan city. No fooling? It's also very cold in Chicago & Minneapolis in the winter, and they have very large populations. Besides, they do play and practice basketball in nice warm arenas, so he doesn't have to go outside for that. He may like the area scenery quite a bit too. Nothing wrong with that either..

Toronto is the fourth largest city in North America, behind Mexico City, New York, and Los Angeles but ahead of Chicago, Houston, and Havana.

That's kind of a snarky comment, but it seems you missed my point so I'll take the high ground. My point is Toronto is a very nice major city. I'd much rather live and play in Toronto than its neighbors Detroit, Minnesota, Milwaukee, and Cleveland. Chicago is 500 miles away, but I agree it's a fantastic city. Shoot, I'd also rather be in Toronto than Sacramento, Utah, Orlando, Indiana, Memphis, and Portland.

But...let's not forget that Kawhi also bought a 12.5 million dollar house in Rancho Santa Fe within the past 6 months. The man has money to spend, and diversification (thus ready options) is a good strategy. Kawhi is no dummy.

Toronto is big beautiful and fun. Diverse, great food, nice infrastructure, great green spaces, urban walking, etc. One gets the feeling that Kawhi could care less about any of that stuff. Dude seems almost pathologically focused on basketball.

We have a family cottage about 90 miles north of Toronto and the summers are really great. He’ll enjoy it and is always welcome to come by my place to fish and hang out!😀

Looks like Kawhi is going to stay for at least one more year and let the NBA drama play out. Toronto is one elite player and a bench away from a championship.

Anunobe or whatever his name is, is hurt also. Theyre tied 1-1 in the finals with their current roster, I think they have a shot to win (albeit they are underdogs)... I don't think they really need to add anything to be a champion

Toronto being so far north couldn't be anything but cold. I'm sure Toronto is a great city, and you could tell by the way the fans support their Raptors! They were yelling all game long!

What drama? The choice is simple, sign a two year deal with Toronto or sign a long term contract with an NBA team in the U.S. As I've heard about the excitement the NBA has brought to Canada, I liken it to the "excitement" the MLS has brought to North America. So by playing second, third, fiddle in a foreign nation, you have a player on the south side of thirty, sidelined once already for an
extended period of time, with issues involving his previous team, and his personal behavior, that necessitated his removal from SAT. In essence, he's no Lebron James.
I do agree about Toronto, an incredible city where I've had the good fortune of seeing The Maple Leafs multiple times. Having also seen the Blue Jays during their championship years, it's still obvious who is the big dog in that city.
As hero worship can become prevalent on this board, I would remind fellow readers, following much fanfare, the other icon, pitcher named Strasburg, has had a rather unremarkable career. That said, given the inherent instability of a short term contract, I would personally rather see Leonard enjoy the stability of a long term deal with a quality NBA team in the U.S. to ensure his best years aren't behind him.

Most MLB pitchers seem to have had trouble matching Strasburg, and his "rather unremarkable career".

Man, you couldn’t be more wrong on every point. Kawhi is easily one of the best five players in the NBA. He’s been the best player in the playoffs and has led his team to the finals and within three games of a WORLD TITLE. He is hardly hiding in obscurity in the north. The Raptors are by no means a tertiary sports franchise in Canada, let alone Toronto. The entire country supports these guys. 22% of Canadians tuned into game 1 of the Finals and 27.5% for game 2. www.google.com/amp/s/www.thestar.com/amp/business/2019/06/04/the-raptors-are-now-the-most-valuable-sports-franchise-in-canada-experts-say.htmlThe Raptors are playing in the championship round of the top basketball league in the world which obviously in no way resembles the the status of MLS in the world of soccer. His “personal behavior” has never been problematic. He was injured in San Antonio and his employer, co-workers, and in-house medical staff mitigated the seriousness of his injury while denigrating his character as a professional athlete. With the work that he put in and the sacrifices that he made (playing within an arbitrarily restrictive system) their actions and statements were a slap in Leonard’s face. Strasburg has a lifetime ERA is 3.14. He’s won 99 MLB games versus 55 losses while accruing 1,542 strike outs. He’s a three time All-Star, a silver slugger award winner, and NL League Strikeout leader. You’d be a fool to describe his accomplishments as unremarkable.

NBA Drama: Lakers, the office is a mess, the team players TBD. Kobe rides in to the rescue, but his old agent (now GM) is a large part of the problem. Warriors, who stays? And KD goes to? Clippers (kind of like the Lakers 2 years ago), how do they start to build the team? Knicks? ? Davis? Irving? Butler? Waiting one year will make it clearer on where is the right fit. Who are the power teams? James may do the same.

If he signs a short term deal, that will allow him to sign a larger max contract (35%) because of his tenure in the league. The expanded salary cap will also mean additional 💵 💴 💰.

Here's something to think about, tonight's best players came from San Diego State, New Mexico State and Wichita State. P5s are not always a springboard to the NBA just as transferring. Recruits should find a good school with "a process" who win.
SDSU needs to become a destination school again. We've lost that under Dutch, and Fishes last teams sort of under delivered and fell short with Pope, Kell, & Z.

After an enlightening conversation with a buddy of mine, I'm beginning to think this whole unsettled issue post playoffs is his actual desire to stay "under the radar". This could be argued by his propensity to play on teams with mid to little markets, SDSU, SAT and now YYZ. (Yeah, I know, king of Canada, blah, blah, blah). As such, perhaps I shouldn't be surprised if he "never" puts on an LA jersey, or any other "big market" team. It will be interesting to see what transpires for him after the season concludes. After watching last night's game against the depleted Warriors, it dawned on me, if YYZ wins the title, they won't be subjected to having to turn down a visit to the White House.
