Officially, Urias to the Padres, and Gerardo Reyes to El Paso.

Not hitting. 3-40 on the season. And it’s not a hard luck .075, it’s a lot of whiffing. In my opinion, Andy Green is destroying this guy’s confidence by throwing him in against guys like Syndegaard and DeGrom. Pick his spots and play the matchups a little better with him, today he got shut down by the reigning Cy Young winner.

Against deGrom today, he hit a ball to the warning track and also hit 2 other balls over 100 MPH. He easily could have had 3 hits today. It is hard luck when you have a .111 BABIP mark. Just....no.

I really want this guy to succeed, I want to see the Pads in the playoffs every year. To this point, he has shown no indication that he can consistently hit big league pitching.
I’m sure he will get plenty of opportunities in the rest of the season.

I would hate to see the Padres be forced to trade him to a AAA team that desperately needed a 2nd baseman that can hit.

As much as I want the kid to succeed, I’m not seeing it right now😲

As much as I want the kid to succeed, I’m not seeing it right now😲 The job is his to win or lose. If the Padres stick with him (no reason to assume they won't at this point), he will get at least 50 more starts this season and get another 200 or so plate appearances.

Urias, since he's been back up: 14 for 62 (.226), but in the month of August, he is hitting .355 (11-31) with 9 RBI. Trending in the right direction.

Is Urias scheduled to be the SS with Tatis on the shelf?
I wonder if Tatis just gets shut down, with the Pads not being a playoff contender this year.

I doubt it too, but it would not be the shock of the year. They went ultra conservative on Gore too, and are not likely contenders. But hey, only 8 GB of the wild card.
