Obviously I can’t answer for him but you must be pretty naive to not see the most likely reason. I see, so he's throwing in the towel figuring he won't be THE man as a true frosh. Just the kind of guy we need. We are in no position to turn away a guy like this. So, yes, he is EXACTLY the kind of guy we need. However, he is not coming here. He will be go to Penny Hardaways' Memphis.

He’s got some good players coming in this year including a 7’1” lefty big who is projected to be a top draft pick in 2020. That team is going to do some things and Boogie would be in a good position to thrive.

If he's that driven to go to the NBA then he must be placated which may be a detriment to another team. Like I said, he's a true frosh and will still need to refine his skills where it would've been ideal in a place like Duke. Jones will be a lock to leave after this season. For that reason Boogie made a mistake to transfer IMO.

I’m sure SDSU has contacted him even though they aren’t on this tweet.

It does not say that other schools have not reached out to him, just that these particular ones have.

Would rather take a grinder with a chip on their shoulder and something to prove than someone who asks for a release before he ever took a class at Duke. Drama has plagued this program with several high-profile players over the years. Plenty of options out there for SDSU besides Ellis. Don't think for a second he'd bounce from SDSU if he didn't get what he wants instead of what the program needs. If he really wanted to be the hometown hero as he was advertising, he would've initially made his commitment to SDSU instead of Duke. Next.

It's very possible that he was strongly hinted by coach K to transfer after he got bigger recruits. Lots of completely unfounded speculation on this guy. But that's par for the coarse on message boards.

You’ve decided that Ellis won’t play like he’s got something to prove simply because he has decommitted from Duke. That’s a giant leap in logic. I think that you’re more mad that he chose Duke in the first place. Neither decision reflects poorly on Ellis as a player or a person. IMO, it would be difficult for any late blooming b-baller to turndown an offer from Duke. Imagine being in his shoes. Coach K visited his home and called him repeatedly making his interest clear. Just a few months earlier, this offer would have been impossible to imagine. If Ellis really is good, and I think that he is, wouldn’t seeking a chance to start right away be evidence of his desire to compete? If he could be an all-conference performer or even a conference freshman of the year, why sit on the bench next season?

BTW, I don't have any qualms about where any player decides to initially go or transfer to.

Agree, a high-school kid has no loyalty to his hometown, only to making the best decision for HIM. Because once the BB and bright lights are over, you needed to get whatever you could out of those above-average skills. Rejected alumni and fans will rarely be there to help you when the cheering stops.

Timing did not work in our favor. Had. Boogie decommitted sooner, we would've likely landed him was what we were told. With that said, we still have a shot but it boils down to Dutch opening a spot for him and rescinding one of our guards. Dont think Dutch will get rid of Seiko or Pulliam although I think he should. Boogie checks all boxes and hes a hometown kid. Im torn on this. Ziegler doesn't think Boogie will start over Flynn (agree) or KJ but the eyeball test says Boogie way better than Seiko. Seiko talks tough on Twitter but he has no skill that stands out. I really hope Boogie picks us but more importantly I hope Dutch lets Boogie pick us. Dutch may told Boogie we have no room.

It really seems like Baker would be a better fit all around. He would sit next year (not needed) would be able to play against them on scout team and blend in the following year. Boogie looks good in high school (i know stud) but Baker has played against the best day in day out, games and practice. He (Baker) really seems like more of a known commodity.
What's the latest on Shakur Juiston? would be nice to see him Mensha and Wetzell in the 4-5 rotation. Maybe Juiston could be that Josh Davis type player they have been looking for the last few years?
Still looks like they will have a hole where McDaniels was last year.
