there were not going to put two San Diego teams in the NIT, i also think that the NIT game may end up being hosted at Viejas. or its being considered. the real snub is Fresno. Why would Viejas host any NIT games if the Aztecs are not in it?

I’m surprised that USD got in over Fresno. That’s crazy I wonder if USD would have been selected if we had beat them at Viejas, as we should have?

Thoughts? With all due respect to State's "soft", and yet another, 20 win season, the tournament illustrated just how weak the conference is, (move over Pac 12). That said I see USU, and UNR as an at large, in the big boy tournament. Depending on the inventory, I see State IN the NIT playing on the Dark Side Of The Moon, with a quick exit. My thoughts. Come on, USU is automatically in by virtue of them winning the Conference Tournament, not by an at large, and of course Nevada's in. The Aztecs season is done. Automatic bids who wouldn’t get in otherwise are double digit numbers, not 9 seeds. So Utah State was well inside the bubble apparently.

Why would Viejas host any NIT games if the Aztecs are not in it? Thee AZTECS better make some ca$h on that deal. IF USD were to host any NIT games, they could easily host them at the JCP. They already have trouble filling it. There would be no need for Viejas to host any NIT games without the Aztecs playing.

If this is even being considered, San Diego State University and the weak Craig Thompson better put a big no stamp on the whole idea. It's been blatantly obvious over the years that the NCAA, E$PN and CB$$N do not like MWC teams. Not saying SDSU should have received a NIT invite. But USD over Fresno St should prove the point. During the 2015-16 season the Aztecs who were 28-10 and 16-2 in conference were also snubbed by the NCAA selection committee. This would be a sellout by the people running the conference and would border ridiculousness. And not the TV show.

I’m surprised that USD got in over Fresno. That’s crazy Im not surprised.. Their out of conference schedule was piss poor. Only real team they played was TCU and even they were outsider looking in. SJSU is also a real issue in our conference. The hair might have to place them on notice here pretty soon.

I have no problem returning the favor. However, the comment about them not filling the place is on point, and they would have to win at Memphis and hope for some other upsets to get a home game. And then there would have to be a scheduling conflict to move to Viejas. Not sure where the original idea came from because it's a long shot.

Call me crazy, but I wish we would have played in the CBI. Not because it matters as a tournament, but it would have been an outstanding opportunity to sit our starters and get guys PT that need to develop for next year.
Even if it was only one game, I’d have liked to see Joel, Ed, and Adam get extended run when it matters. That alone is worth 40-50k in my opinion.
West Virginia and DePaul weren’t too good for it this year.
Nevada and Loyola won it just before making their great runs.
Previous winners include Oregon, VCU and Pittsburgh.
We aren’t (well, *shouldn’t* be) above it.

We had a #6 team in our conference (until we knocked them out of the Top 10 in Feb) and USU has had a nigher NET ranking than the Gaels all season long (and it was significantly higher until St. Mary's won the conference tournament). If we had taken acre of business against USD and Brown in our own gym it's a non-issue and we would have probably been considered for an NIT invite over USD.

Because the Associated Students, who own Viejas, would make money from renting the arena. There are a lot of events scheduled there so it might not even be available. And, as RifelBooks says, it would take multiple upsets for USD to be allowed to host a game. They are only a 6 seed, and games are hosted by the higher seed.
