I don't think Ryan said he wasn't the best player on the team, he said something along the lines of teammate Jurian Dixon was the more impressive player in the game he watched. I think Dixon is the better overall player. Mikey is a great athlete and scorer. He also has carte blanche to take any shot he wants, resulting in really poor shot selection. He also gets favorable whistles and should have fouled out in the playoff game against Granite Hills. He got away with at least 2 offensive fouls in the first half 5 feet away from me, with an intimidated ref too scared to make a call. And Jurian is a great kid... a GREAT kid. He's not the talent of the other guy, but is much more of a realistic guy for the Aztecs.

I stand corrected! I was going off memory on an old post of yours. I've never seen Mikey play, though I have met his dad, who used to coach a few elite girls teams. Jurian started out as a very young, raw talent with his club team, but developed fairly quickly into an elite player. I haven't seen him play in person in HS yet though. I guess I have 3 more years to do so.

The Border Boys have a Top 10 ranking for HS basketball, excluding the basketball diploma mills.

Interesting that Kenpom has Howard up 100 spots with the signing of Makur Maker.

Mikey Williams is NOT going to an HBCU school. He's going straight to the NBA. This is all to gain more followers on his instagram.

With the athletes now eligible to make money off their own likeness and brand, going to a HBCU would be a gold mine for him all while "making a difference". Then in a year or two, he can go to the NBA and make even more....

He will be getting payed somewhere as soon as possible his clock is ticking. You have to remember he is just a athletic freak right now that is just so much better then everyone around him. If in a couple years he grows and continues to improve the sky's the limit but if he stays 6'1-6'2 his game will not be the same at the next level. He is a great player now, he is just heads and tails above his peers but give them time and things will change. I will say, it will be fun to watch just like Reggie, Ricky, Chase, .............. and all the other San Diego stars in all their sports of the past.

I think a year at Howard before going to the NBA could easily wind up being more financially lucrative for him in the long run compared to a season in the G league.

Mikey Williams cuts list to 10. SDSU Aztecs makes the cut! Williams announced Wednesday he’s considering Alabama State, Arizona State, Hampton, Kansas, Memphis, N.C. Central, San Diego State, Tennessee State, Texas Southern and USC. I am surprised Howard has not made his list.

Sheesh, he hasn't even started his sophomore year yet. I know times have changed, and he's a rare talent, but why pare down your list already?

5 HBC schools on the list. I say he goes to Hampton University in VA to honor his mother and support HBCs, if he goes to college at all. He was a HS Freshman last season. Alot can happen in the next three years.

The 5 HBC schools on his list is a respect selections but I believe the real 5 Players are Arizona State, Kansas, Memphis,San Diego State, and USC. This is a good thing for SDSU if he wants to stay close to home. Being down to 10 now, there is a chance he could try to graduate early from high school. Summer classes and or evening classes would do the trick. Would not surprise me if he re-classifies to 22. Probably will turn pro, but could see him trade senior year of high school for a year of college to further mature. Other then blue blood Kansas, exposure is similar with the other four schools and SDSU has not taken a back seat with these four schools.

Yea, seems really early to be narrowing the choice, but there have been some guys who have committed at this age. Crazy though, as things typically evolve & change. If you could place a bet on 1 of these 10 vs. "the field" I'd still take the field at this point. He may want to have narrowed his list and included the 5 HBC's to piggyback the recent BLM movement & Makur's commitment. Otherwise, I'm with you. There's no real reason to limit the list unless he's simply annoyed with some coaches reaching out to him. Even then, they probably won't stop because they know 2 years is a long time & he could change his mind 10 times between now & then.

I wouldn't be so sure after Makur Maker's commitment to Howard that he wouldn't consider it. We'll see if he even goes to college or if he goes straight to pro. Regardless, a very strange list of schools. 4 HBCUs, the blue blood Kansas, the hometown school SDSU, and some above average power conference schools (and Memphis) with deep pockets.
