The coaches have a list of ~five guys, all as big as AG, most bigger and are confident they will land one of them. Things could get real interesting if Malachi and Mitchell don't come back and what about Nathan and or Joel? Malachi- would be a bonus if he comes back Mitchell- Should come back to continue his progress and finish off a great Aztec career. Nathan- serious health concerns. Joel- doesn't seem to be catching on, maybe red-shirt or transfer out? I love Malachi and think he will get paid to play basketball, but there are not a lot of 6’1” guards in the NBA, Trae Young is one of them, but he has crazy Steph like range and is quicker than Malachi. I would be surprised if he leave and Mitchell is not going anywhere.. Nathan and Joel for different reasons are questions, but Joel loves it on campus so he likely isn’t transferring.

definite need for a solid player at the 5/4 position - would prefer some one about 6'8" or taller does Not have to be a 7 foot guy - for the 1 open scholarship as of today
Yes there are questions about other guys coming back , Malachi ( does he go to NBA - think MM could decide that plus NBA combine ) , we do have Freshmen guards coming in and a couple coming back from the current team ,
Nathan's health , ....
Matt - would need a great MM - plus NBA combine evaluation - but think he needs another season working on his outside shot .
Keshad - sure hope he comes back and has a good Sophomore season - have Not heard anything that he will not
Joel needs to develop his game
AG - can he stay healthy
have not heard much on how recruit - Che is doing on his rehab during his senior year of HS - plays the 3/2 positions

Looks like LMU’s 7’3 center Mattias Markusson is going to be a grad transfer.

Maybe he will stay at LMU with a new coach. Or maybe look for a winning program. Either way he will play for a different coach.
Last he went back to Sweden to care for his mom who had cancer is what I read.

Seth Towns played at Harvard 6'7, 215 from Columbus, Ohio. Averaged 5.7 Rebounds a game, 16.0 points per game. Highly desireable Grad Transfer. Can play both PF/SF one year left to play. Considering Kansas, Virginia, Syracuse, Ohio State, Michigan and Maryland, still hasn't committed. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/4066829/seth-towns

We really need a ball handling guard. Nathan and Joel Mensah have the center position covered, and Keshad and Arop have the four covered (Keshad may be starting at the four next year), with Mitchell and Schnackel getting minutes at the two and three position. So we need another point guard type player to distribute the ball to our playmakers, with KJ leaving and possibly Malachi - that would leave only Pulliam at the one or two. Seiko is a good 10-15 minutes a game 3 and D type player, but we need more guys that can drive and kick, and to protect the ball and bring it up the court.
Hopefully Dutcher can find another KJ type as a grad transfer

If we don't get another point guard type, I would expect to see Mitchell playing the role of a Trey Kell type, big body shooting guard and ball distributor. Hopefully Mitchell works on his handles more in the off season (and keeps his weight down).

We really need a dominant rebounder, regardless of whether he's a 4 or 5. Remember Josh Davis? If Dutcher can sign a gem like him we'll be another Top 5 team, or better.

Keshad Johnson is that dude - he averaged 11.2 rebounds per 40 minutes last year as a freshman. The only reason why he didn't get minutes was because he was still figuring out his game as a freshmen, and because our team was extremely deep. Very similar to Jamaal Franklin barely getting any minutes on the 2010-2011 team in my opinion. That's why I'm more worried about getting a ball handler; Nathan Mensah is already one of the best defensive centers in the country statistically (second best defensive rating in the country), and Keshad will get double doubles next year at the four position.

I'm sure he is talented, but teams that make deep runs in the tournament rarely start freshmen guards (unless they are lottery pick types). This team is deep enough that I doubt any true freshman would get more then 5-10 minutes a game.

I don’t think taking per 40 stats from garbage minutes is a good idea. To expect a freshman who played pretty much no meaningful minutes to immediately step in and be a double double machine at the 4, when he should be playing the 3, is wishful thinking. Do I think he will be good? Absolutely, but to expect a stud right away is probably not a good idea. I agree that getting a good rebounder/versatile 4 a la Yanni is priority #1 at the moment. One of our biggest weaknesses this past year was front court depth. Arop is going to be really good, but is an undersized 4 just with a long wing span. Joel has good energy, but lacks fundamental skill and gets pushed around down low by stronger guys. So, that gives us 2-3 viable options at the 4-5 positions at the moment depending whether or not you consider Keshad a 4. Obviously Malachi leaving would change things. We would then need to find a replacement to play the 1, but getting a guard to add to an already crowded backcourt should not be a priority over a big right now, unless the Steph was available lol. Regardless of what happens, I am very exciting for next year and can’t wait. I think we are going to be very very good and if Malachi comes back, better than next year. I think we have a legit chance, if healthy, to make a title run.

No doubt that we need a quality guy to play the 4/5 position - not sure what to expect from Nathan going forward do hope that the med staff does what is needed for a complete recovery now rather then waiting until later , not much confidence in Joel as of now .
Is AG able to stay healthy and continue his development - how much development will Keshad do this spring summer - know he has a lot of athletic talents - but also needs to work on defense , rebounding and hanging onto the ball - was a true freshman so usually most growth is between first and second season .
Think we are bringing in two talented guards but they are Freshmen .
Matt will be entering his senior season trust he will come in good shape and making this his best season . Jordan should try to develop more then just his outside shot - also be able to shoot going to the basket - plus get to the FT line was over 90% last year .
Key of course is what does Malachi do go to NBA or come back for his senior season and try to get us to MM .
Do think most of the teams will have better talent in the MW next year .
