For those who've never used it, T-Rank is an analytical tool that attempts to rank teams using advanced statistics in order to adjust for varying difficulties of schedules. It's more or less the same methodology as BPI, Kenpom, Sagarin, etc. ratings. The cool thing though, is that it lets you filter it in any you want. Well, I wanted to see how good we've been since 2/14 (the day we beat Wyoming to start our 9-game win streak). Since 2/14, we have been the 11th best team in the country. Houston is three spots ahead of us in 8th place with a win over Cinci, a handful of double digit wins (including a 51 point thrashing of ECU which certainly raised their rank quite a bit). There's not really any point of this topic other than to show that we really ARE one of the hottest teams in the country, even after adjusting for Strength of Schedule. And a throwback to the Fisher days, we've had the fourth most efficient defense (SOS adjusted) in that same time period. Only behind Duke, UVA, and Michigan. That's some pretty good company!

That's one of the reasons why it stinks we got placed against Houston as opposed to an Ohio State or Clemson. They're hot too.

Houston is a very hot team just like the Aztecs. This one has the potential to be a an instant classic like the MWC Championship game was.

So, we are the 11th best team over that period and got placed in a bracket where we would have to face #8 and then #1 if we win?

A suspicious person would think they were trying to knock out G5 teams as early as possible pitting one against another.

On a side note we actually got 1 vote in the coaches poll this week! We got 2 votes in the AP poll. Nevada is 25th in the coaches poll and 24th in the AP. This is even after we beat them twice last week.

This is even after we beat them twice last week. Wow, didn't even think about the polls this week. That's actually insane that Nevada is still ranked. I guess it makes sense though as every team (except one per league) has to lose that week. But even still... you'd think any voters who saw a single second of our game would drop them out completely.

So if we get past #8 Houston, we'll face #1 Michigan.

So if we get past #8 Houston, we'll face #1 Michigan. The funny thing is, we can beat either.

So, we are the 11th best team over that period and got placed in a bracket where we would have to face #8 and then #1 if we win? The problem with the Tournament is that all the teams are good. There aren't any easy outs. Maybe the 16 v 1 or 15 v 2, but all the teams are dangerous and will make you pay if you sleep on them. Just ask UCLA. The only ethos should be stop whining and play whoever is up next.

The talk is what a great rebounding team Houston is, their height doesn't matter (Girth!) look at how they beat Cincinnati and Wichita State . . .
I looked at 'Nati and Wichita. Both are short teams, shorter than Houston and much shorter compared to the Aztecs. I dunno how that plays out, it's just perhaps worth noting.
