Runnin' Rubbles roll on… I used to keep better track of these things, but last time I checked the Zoomies are something like 1-30 in MGC/WAC conf. tourney games. I believe they were o-fer until three or four years ago. Even when they have good teams (and this year's edition was particularly cr@ppy), there's something about playing the Zoomies and their Princeton/backdoor-cuts offense a third time that makes it impossible for them to win. However, it's a testament to how poorly the Robertas have been playing that this game went to OT on the Robertas' home floor. Sad. |

Amazing. On their home floor the Rebels couldn't even beat Air Force without going to overtime. Most underachieving MWC team I can remember.
Another season like this and Menzies' stay in Vegas will be short.

Say what you want about the Aztecs underperforming to certain expectations, but the Rebels take the cake by a wide margin in that category. A surefire 1 and done in McCoy, the JUCO NPOTY in Juiston.....They have as much talent as anyone around. They just refuse to defend.

Amazing. On their home floor the Rebels couldn't even beat Air Force without going to overtime. Most underachieving MWC team I can remember. Another season like this and Menzies' stay in Vegas will be short. Considering what Menzies has done with UNLV this season no matter where they finish is still an upgrade. He did get them off the floor mat, and with the year under their belt I won't be surprised if they come back stronger and better next season. He will not get fired yet, and his team will improve. |
