The aztecs won to extend its senior night winning streak to 10+. Next, viejas was rocking with the loudest crowd of the year. Anyone know when this current senior night winning streak began and how many straight senior night wins after beating nevada? According to the post game notes, this senior night streak started in the 2005-06 season and is at 13 games. Air Force won in Feb, 2005 for the last aztecs senior night home loss.

Another thing even though it is not part of a streak anymore, but they did have the lead at the 5 minute mark. So, they add to the number of wins
they have when leading at the five minute mark. Still a very good mark I would assume.

In fairness, what is there to source? It is an opinion. Advancing to the Elite 8 in the NCAA Tournament has never happened for the Aztecs. Whether that would make this team more successful than the 34-3 Sweet 16 team is debatable/subjective and/or depends on your definition of "successful".

I believe I misread his original post.  I thought he was being sarcastic saying that just because we went from a 3 game win streak to a 6 game win streak some posters were talking about this being a really great season.

Taking a second look I now believe he meant that if we extend our current 6 game win streak to 12, we'd have the most successful season in the program's history.  In that case it'd be a close call as to which season was our most successful, ignoring the 1941 NAIA championship.

My apologies for misreading your post earlier.  It would be a close call between that result and the 2010-2011 season.

No worries. In my opinion in the current landscape of college bball, seasons are defined by NCAA tournament runs. Which is why I would argue any season that an Aztec team makes it to the elite 8 (or beyond) would be the best season in school history.

I can't strongly disagree with you on that.  In a debate it would be easy to take either side as to which was the most successful.  It would depend on what was considered the most important criteria.

Getting back to streak, one of the announcers said when NV scored 48 points against our 23 points in the 2nd half of our first game, Dutcher made them practice for 2.5 hours the next day. We haven't lost since.

You may have to qualify it as being our most successful team in Div.1 play, if we make it to the Elite 8. Like AzTec mentioned
we did have a National Champ in NAIA in 1941. To me no matter where you play a National Championship is still quite an accomplishment.

But, let's beat Fresno first!

Not even close to the 2010/11 season if we win the next 6 games. We were a #2 seed in 2011. If we make the tournament, we would most likely be a 13-14 seed. Winning 3 Tournament games as a 13-14 seed would get us some very fancy glass slippers.

If we win 9 in a row and the Conference tournament I could see us getting a 9 or 10 seed.
