The aztecs- boise state football game outdrew the holiday bowl; 49,000+ for aztecs-boise state against 47092 for the holiday bowl. So much for big time football. Also, the holiday bowl ticket prices are too high.

Also, the H. Bowl game itself sucked as it was over by half.

Every year but 4, the Holiday Bowl has had crowds of 50,000+; 1992 (lowest ever at 44k), 2015, 2016 and 2017. Last night was the 2nd lowest in history. The crowds are trending in the wrong direction.

The Holiday Bowl has sucked ever since they stopped having a conference champ.

Pretty simple, really. '92 was Hawaii/Illinois. Hawaii has a lousy fan base and doesn't travel. '15 was the second year in a row for USC (been there, done that for Trojan fans). '16 and '17 was Washington St. both years. Again, lousy fan base (their home stadium only holds 33K), and back to back years doesn't help. The PAC12 is not doing this bowl any favors by sending their representative in consecutive years. Otherwise, the Holiday Bowl has been solid in attendance for 40 years, and usually put on an entertaining, competitive game. Have you watched some of these other second tier bowls? Pretty pathetic when you look in the stands. Most bowls would be thrilled with 50+K 36 out of 40 years.

The advent even a four team playoff has dimished bowls generally in terms of fan interest . If there was a true16 team national championship tournament several bowls would fold IMHO. I'll always get fired up about our team participating but bowls seem like exhibitions to me largely.

Also, the holiday bowl ticket prices are too high. Do you recall the attendance for the last Aztec home game? Not every opponent can be Boise State. You also claim ticket prices are too high for the Holiday Bowl. It would appear 47,000+ in attendance disagree with you. The fact is, the Holiday Bowl outgrew the WAC and by the time the MWC was formed it had moved on to bigger and better things. Despite your small time thinking, The Holiday Bowl was, (and still probably is), a major event in San Diego, focused, for some time, with P5 programs. As I had previously posted on a more appropriate board, it will probably be gone sooner than later. What will be left is football in a soccer stadium, or football in a 35,000 seat football stadium. There's enough bottom tier P5 programs with those kinds of dimensions. They don't need another one.

The face value definitely put me off. Was willing to spend like $30 to sit up top end zone. But what they were asking was insane. Stubhub didn’t offer any relief.

I can certainly respect that, and rest assured sir, if the MW Championship Game is ever played in San Diego or there is a reincarnation of the Poinsettia Bowl, you will not have that challenge. (I remember your work Sleepy and I know you might get a chuckle out of the fact I'm so stoked the white horns are back).

I'll always get fired up about our team participating but bowls seem like exhibitions to me largely. I may be the only one who thinks so but to me, another problem with the playoff has been a paucity of teams from the West. Because of the bias towards eastern teams by the media is highly annoying, I will always root for teams from our neck of the woods. There is nobody to root for this year, only teams to root against.

I will take in one game at the Coliseum in the next couple seasons and then bequeath them to the good people of Los Angeles. SDSU ever after is the primary beneficiary of my sporting dollar. But I’ll always have Ferragamo, Waddy, Tyler, Dryer, and Youngblood. Those are mine!
