After licking my wounds yesterday, some observations....
After the 2003 season, I gave up my Bolt season tickets, tired of schlepping on a plane to San Diego to watch the Chargers lose.
The next year they went 12-4 with my boy Drew Brees at QB and for a few years happy days were there again.
This year after the Chargers crawled up to StubHub Stadium and, thirteen games into the season, they are currently sitting in a first place tie with the Chiefs, (with both teams possibly going in opposite directions).
Given the bounce The Padres received with the '98 World Series, you have to wonder if the community of San Diego might have taken a different attitude if the Bolts had played to this level a year ago, being a fair weather city, possibly earning city wide support. (Always about the timing).
As for the Rams, gaining my loyalty with those white horns reminiscent of the good old days, Times Charity Game in August, Roman Gabriel, Jack Snow, The "Fearsome Foursome", playing in the Coliseum, in a marquee game against arguably the best team in the NFC drawing ALMOST USC numbers, (67,000) verses the Chargers drawing 25,000 in a 30,000 seat arena in spite of their winning streak.....
regardless of what the future holds for both teams......USC will always rule. That's all I gotta say..
