I am surprised to see two RS freshmen starting at WR. These kids must be good.

The new, bigger bodies at WR must be doing a better job blocking downfield. As well as making the tough catches and jump balls in the endzone.

Holder when healthy is pretty effective, and Truxton came on later in the year. The fact the 2 RS FR are not only in the rotation but current starters is huge. Between those 4, Truvilion (sp?) & the 4 TE's we have a ton of targets, plus the backs. Now we just need to give Chapman time.
Still a little worried about the Thompson's at safety. We may get burned deep a few times here & there given blown coverages, but hopefully by week 5 or 6 they'll have their bearings.
Hopefully we see Agnew getting a bunch of snaps in 8 days.

I'd say nothing's concrete at this time, the chart may change from practice to practice. Yes, from experience, I've seen the chart stay fluid until a couple days before the first game (or even the second game).
Rocky's team culture dictates that you're always fighting for a spot, nothing is given. It prepares you for the pros.

Good chance we'll have the tallest starting WR combo in the country, or at least close to it. Have to wonder if Rock is sending a bit of a message to the whole team with this move. No one is safe from losing their job. Earn it every day. That makes for great competition.

One of the reasons Rocky is such a good coach is he knows how to motivate players and make them tough. I appreciate that he does it through who gets the start. Penciling in Freshmen as starters at this point not only motivates those Freshmen to keep pushing hard, it lights a fire under those who used to be higher on the depth chart to step it up. The team wins this way. Also, in Micah Holder's case for sure, there is no way he doesn't start. He is too good. But his "spot" it taken by a true Freshman because Micah has seen limited to no time in practice because of an injury....why not? Its a mind game.
Go Rocky! Go Aztecs!

Believe this move will help in recruiting. Young prospects now know they have a chance to start if they work hard.

a week before the first game vs Davis . Things do change and no guarantee on snaps for any of the guys - when there is action playing a real opponent . Great to see development of the younger players and competition from all the guys . Results on the field determine PT

Believe this move will help in recruiting. Young prospects now know they have a chance to start if they work hard. THIS. Rocky's made it clear to all incoming players that they'll all get a fair shot at getting playing time if they prove that they can play (doesn't matter if they're true freshmen or seniors). To some, it's not a guarantee but to those who love to rise up to the challenge, an opportunity to play right away. To other players, it's a deterrent. Meaning that they're not guaranteed to play but need to work for it. These types of players don't come to the Mesa. Oldie Out

Freshmen on the depth chart is usually a great sign, Vincent Brown and Darnay Scott played and contributed early in their Aztec careers. Those WR's must have some talent.
