Is anyone planning on making the trip for the ASU game? I've never been to their stadium. How are their fans?

I went last time we played them there ( and I am going this time as well). Last time their fans, mostly students yelled obscenities and poured beer on SDSU Fans. Hope fully a better experience this time.

I, as a team manager, went with Grossmont college to a game against Arizona mesa in the 1980s, it was over 100 at kickoff. therefore the need for a late kickoff.

Tickets booked. Southwest is having a sale through this Thursday. For how much? I've had an email alert that updates me on the price to Phoenix that week and I haven't seen anything under $190 for round trip.

Yea, their "low fare calendar" shows $89 each way for the entire month (except for Labor day which is more). In the past I've seen $69 each way, so not the best buy right now. Alaska is basically the same price. Luckily it's only a 5-hr drive & can do that for around $70 RT! : )

I went to the game in Tempe in 2001.
My buddy and I flew into Phoenix early on game day. By 11;45 am, we had made our way over to the stadium area and were at our first bar for the day. We then made our way through a number of bars before heading to the late game (I'm guessing it was an eight o'clock game). We did go over to the stadium during the afternoon and bought tickets from some guys who wanted to unload tickets. One thing I noticed was that the area was almost dead during the day.
The tickets we bought were in the end zone of the bottom deck. Almost all the Aztec faithful were in the upper deck. My buddy and I had to walk by the student body fans when we got to the game. There had to be at least 5000 of them. My buddy and I were in Aztec gear and we we got about a 30 second standing "Boooooo" from the entire student section. It was awesome. When we got to our seats, I made the decision that I had to go back to the Sun Devil student section and get some pictures of the students booing me. I have two great pictures of me getting flipped off by multiple people. The only people not flipping me off were grabbing their crotches. It turns out that my future son-in-law was in the student section that evening. We have had some great laughs about that.
To get to the point of the story, I had mentioned that the area around the stadium was rather dead before the game. I now know that that was because of the weather. When the game was over, my friend and I were totally burned out and ready to head back to our hotel which we did.
However, thousands of people, it seems, headed for the bars for their version of pregame partying. The only difference is that they do it post game.
Final note: We got home Sunday night, and the 9/11 attack on the Twin Towers happened Tuesday morning.

I'm looking at sitting on our 50 but I see that there are only two levels of seats. Do you know how the view is on the upper level?

I've never like view seating in any stadium. : ) They just remodeled the stadium and the sight lines weren't horrible before, so I'd imagine they wouldn't be any worse now. Definitely better than the Q!!
