Will be there. It's always a great event. Only downside is traffic/parking, given the fair is also going on next door.

One of my favorite lunch spots when I lived in town. Thanks for the reminder to go next time I'm in town.

some great speeches by Martinez, Dutcher and Long and high expectations for the 2017-18 season. What did Rocky have to say? #1 message continues to be a) 3 RS FR most likely starting on the OL; b) they're not facing 200 lb linemen in HS any more; c) they're all 300+, athletic & can run but so can the guys across from them who also happen to be 3 years older; and d) we'll be very good after week 4, but week 4 (AF) could be our biggest, most important game. In other words, we go as far as our OL takes us. Cautiously optimistic - typical Rocky, and very, very entertaining. Oddly, I can't recall 1 single word about the D!?!?! You could tell Dutch was significantly more comfortable with the crowd & was also very entertaining. Likes the 11 guys we have, but we do have a recruit visiting this weekend. Didn't provide any more hints on that. Entire team, possibly sans Rooks (wrapping up at Cal) will be here for session #2. Kell, Pope, McD & a couple others have been here are summer & working harder than ever. Says you could tell senioritis has hit Kell & Pope. Talked about every player, etc. Good overview. Martinez was great, telling stories about how "praying to Tony" won us at Riverside, among others. Very optimistic about next year's team. He kind of stole the show, which is saying a lot among these 3. JD talked MV developments; expect a 1-pager re: SDSU's "plans" within the next few weeks, but things are extremely fluid. A lot of dancing around the subject, but that's about all he can do right now. Overall, excellent event as usual. Only complaint was food was slow & sparse, at least compared to prior events at the Lumberyard. But can't beat the venue!

Oh, BTW, the biggest news from the event hasn't been mentioned. Beer will be sold at TGwynn, the Softball field and yes, Viejas this year! : )

I was at the Aztec Caravan event and JD Wicker gave an update on the current status of MV and answered some questions. Here was the biggest piece of info... The CSU System and SDSU is prepared to purchase the entire 166 acre Mission Valley site at whatever FMV the city determines. How do you like them apples! Go SDSU WEST! Go AZTECS! The alcohol was though. I'd heard rumblings 3-4 months ago, but had my doubts.

First time I've heard them say it in public. Sterk said it at an event over a year ago, prior to leaving. They'd been saying it before that as well. CSU/SDSU has always been poised to buy the land IF made available for a fair market value purchase. I think ideally they'd prefer to have a partner to lead development of most of the land, since that's not their specialty, but they'll find one if they have to run point.
