. . . . big news coming from SDSU re stadium issue.
A reliable source tells me that there will be something important coming from SDSU in the near future. I sure as hell hope this is accurate, because we need some good news.

Well, we're all hoping to see a plan of some kind announced soon, and it would certainly make sense that SDSU would wait to announce anything until all the details had been ironed out and it was a solid, workable plan.
I'm sure they've been working on something, the big question is whether or not they can actually come up with a viable, workable plan. I believe that they can, but a lot of people are getting impatient (a feeling pushed by the FSI crowd).

It would be nice if someone from the university would grow some balls and work with the area to come up with a master plan with financial backing. There is enough money in San Diego that we should have something that we are proud of that its a first class facility where soccer, football, and any special events around the size of 40K.

I think it would be a bad idea to release any plan unless it's an outline for what you want defined in a RFP. SDSU is on record saying they want a RFP so you can't move away from that stance.

I am hoping against hope that it is not. Some disagree with me, I guess, but right now SDSU seems to be adrift with respect to the Campus West/new stadium plan. AzWm |

I think SDSU pull all its eggs into negotiations with FS and once that collapsed they had no back up. SDSU thought they had a plan but it fell apart. Blame them for no back up. |

We shall see, but my guess would be it has less to do with major construction on the stadium land, and more to do with a temporary home for football after the current lease expires. |

Yes, it may help decide how to proceed on having the special election this fall or not. I will keep my fingers crossed for a plan better than the Sucker City plan or boondoggle. A plan for something I could support would make me willing to part with a few bucks for a brick. |
