FSI got the jump on SDSU in the battle for public opinion regarding the Mission Valley stadium site. They have made the most if it and enlisted as many people in the local media as they could.
SDSU has been playing catch-up ever since.
This week SDSU has finally come out swinging, trying to change the narrative of the Mission Valley story.
FSI has responded in a distinctively classless and unprofessional manner, mocking SDSU and its supporters.
So now it is time for Aztec Nation to stand up, sound off, and take this debate away from those who are misrepresenting their real goals and intentions.
The Administrators of Aztec Mesa encourage it's members to go on social media and post the truth about Soccer City, and how this is a once every 50 or 60 years type if opportunity to do something that will benefit both the city and the people of San Diego for the next century. Soccer City will have minimal benefit for a decade or two, while expanding SDSU will have a major positive impact for literally the next century.
Post the SDSU case on your Facebook and Twitter pages. Post the SDSU case on the UT's comment pages. Post comments on the Facebook pages for 1090 and the Scott & BR Show. Don't let them drive the narrative.
It's time for all of Aztec Nation to rise up and shape the future of San Diego.

Better than PR will be a real counter proposal. The real advantage that FS investors have over us is that they have a REAL, actionable plan. Until we come out with something REAL, the average San Diegan will see us as whining road blocks. Hopefully the rumblings of a side counter proposal that people have been talking about are real. But until something is actually released, we will be at a disadvantage.

Where would SDSU expand if SoccerCity is approved by voters? Mission Valley might be the best site based on availability and location, but what is plan B? Will SDSU just not expand their campus if Mission Valley is unavailable to them?

Speaking of PR and MV it seems the F/S group is all over the sport talk radio shows. Was listening to 1360 around the 1;00 hour and the first two callers were obviously working for the F/S group. The first was a women who claimed that SDSU was being greedy. Greedy? She seemed to be reading from a script or from notes. The 2nd caller claimed he was a SDSU grad class of 05 if I remember correctly. He went on an on about MLS soccer being the best thing to happen to SD since sliced bread and that Aztec football is a dead man walking. He had some other derogatory things to say about his Alma Mater. I doubt if he was a grad, maybe attended some classes, but had an obvious dislike for SDSU.
The F/S mouth piece Stone was also on spreading his manure all over the Aztecs. Stone claimed that he talked to a large swath of SDSU students and residents of San Diego and claimed that,"they were desperate for MLS soccer". Desperate, please I don' know of anyone desperate for MLS soccer.
This is the kind of BS that they are spreading. We alumni need to respond in force.

Sucker City is going to get pummeled when the other MV developers start to fund the No on FS campaign.

Until SDSU has a real plan and not just an f'ing outline, they will continue to be pummeled in the PR war. God love JD, he is doing an admirable job, but it is no win until there is a solid plan OR details come out on how FS changed the plans on SDSU. Until then, hold on, it will be rough.

The REAL proposal is coming. Ziegler says that a proposal on behalf of SDSU could go on the November ballot. isn't it too late to get anything on the November ballot unless the City Council puts it on the ballot themselves. Maybe the Council will table the November election due to costs.

BINGO, the council will be faced with the decision to single thread a developer on the ballot or allow SDSU's vision onto the ballot as well. How will those Council Members vote? How?

I've been posting comments on 1090's facebook page - using logic and facts to counter the hype of Soccer City. Common sense, really - what benefits a city more, yet more condos, retail and office space, and restaurants, or an expanded university? Beyond educating thousands more kids every year you have hudreds of new jobs and a much greater economic engine than what Soccer City would bring.
That's the kind of thing that needs to be posted often to counter all the garbage and misinformation that FSI is putting out there.
