By saying "the Senate [committee] may take up the issue again as early as this fall" this includes the possibility that the committee will NOT take up the issue at any time in the near future. Which I think is most likely.

Does this mean that Marshall may not be an 'Aztec for life'?

Tell these screwballs to take their $#!+ elsewhere just like any business would if they had an employee who was a malcontent.

newscenter.sdsu.edu/universitysenate/files/07234-FNL_Roster2016-17_(sabbaticals)(7).pdfThe Senate Can do whatever they want, but it is like the AS an advisory vote to the President. But give a read as to who is on the Senate and look closely as to what Departments have seats and the number of seats. Take a look at the B school, its representation is small compared to students and donations to the university. So, prepare yourselves. The Senate will make the recommendation to eliminate in the Fall.

So since they can repeatedly vote to change it again and again till it eventually passes, can we vote to change it back over and over again until it changes back?

My guess is that we can but the key now is whoever the new Prez is has to realize that $$$$ is a huge key in this. Donations will go down plus the cost of changing everything. I also have no clue of the Chancellor's thoughts on this issue. We were fine w/ the last Chancellor and Hirshman. Hopefully we'll be ok with the new Prez or he/she shouldn't be hired.

You raise an important strategy, Bruce. Inundate the new prez with letters and emails that indicate that we will it heras support if Aztec is removed from our name. I'd certainly do it.

May net be a lot, but get a large group of alumni to kick in a bit more every year and it adds up fast!

Considering that the university is using the motto "Aztec Proud" quite a bit recently, including on branded items (like the free coasters I got in the mail a couple weeks ago), I have to think SDSU leadership is pretty comfortable with the "Aztecs" identity. Edit... Such as: newscenter.sdsu.edu/sdsu_newscenter/news_story.aspx?sid=76543 Tuesday, January 17, 2017 We Are Aztec Proud
The logo represents a successful campaign and SDSU’s ascent to a new level of excellence.[/i] Beginning this week, a new graphic design is going up on buildings all across the San Diego State University campus. The Aztec Proud logo celebrates the success of The Campaign for SDSU, which has surpassed its $750 million goal. The graphic also represents the commitment of alumni, donors, friends and the campus community to continue supporting SDSU’s excellence. “The Campaign for SDSU has redefined this university,” said Mary Ruth Carleton, vice president for University Relations and Development. “Our students compete at the highest levels in the academic arena. They are leaders, innovators and change agents on this campus and in their post-graduation lives.”

Which I think is most likely. Well stated. No issue here That's the point. There is no issue. It should be put to rest for good. How many other schools go through a voting process like this? How often should a vote take place? How expensive is it to run a student body vote to make sure that the vote is legit? There needs to be clarity on this issue and needs to come from the president....oh wait...we don't have a president.... Where is the bleeping leadership at this university when we need it?

How expensive would it be to change the name of the university?
What if the passes and then next year a vote passes to change it back?
