Listed at 6'10 and 250 lbs, he has advanced Taft HS into the State CIF Championships. His team just beat JSerra with SDSU 6'10" recruit Joel Mensah. Antwan is playing as a Sophmore this year. Keep an eye out for him. www.dailynews.com/sports/20170308/taft-boys-basketball-focused-in-regional-victory. From the LA Daily News: Antwan January, a 6-foot-10 sophomore center, had little trouble breaking free underneath the basket for slam dunk after slam dunk against 6-foot-10 junior Joel Mensah and 6-foot-7 senior Sebastian Much. January had 15 of his 21 points in the first half to help Taft to a healthy 35-17 lead. “I thought I handled myself well in there tonight,” January said. “Those guys are ranked pretty high and have some (college scholarship) offers. I think I am better.” His brother Anthony January played at NMSU and CSUSB after injuries sidelined him. Antwan making noise in L.A. this year, not highly ranked but playing at a high level.

Ahhh Anthony January. All-Roomer Team Honorable Mention My All-Roomer team starting 5: PG: Eric Lawton SF: Kashif Watson SF: Anthony January PF: Norvel Pelle C: Leonard Allen Jr Good list. But I never heard rumors that Leonard Allen was headed here, or that we even offered. Around ten years ago there was a big fat center who was going to come here. Blanking on his name...

Yes! At center I'd start Jabbar Young or Samuel Eze. Danny Tavares off the bench. And at guard, Quinton Watkins comes off the bench.

"Antwan January, a 6-foot-10 junior center who became eligible in December for Taft, has checked out of school. January's development helped Taft win the City Section Open Division consolation championship and advance to the semifinals of the Division I state playoffs." That was quick. No news on where he is going, but it will be better. www.latimes.com/sports/highschool/varsity-times/la-sp-vi-boys-basketball-antwan-january-leaves-taft-20170320-story.html

I see big things for this kid's thread, it could be a program changer.

With Leonard Allen Jr going to Baylor, can I rekindle the January thread? 6'10 235 playing AAU with the Phx Phamily (aka the Bagley Brothers.) Seiko play there as well.

So was little Leonard not good enough for the Aztecs, but, good enough for Baylor?

So was little Leonard not good enough for the Aztecs, but, good enough for Baylor? You can't teach 7 ft. And a decent perimeter shot. Perhaps I'm not the first and hopefully not the last " in Dutch I Trust"

Anyone know why we are not in the mix yet for January? Its all the usual suspects less UNLV and SDSU.
