We don't need a billion plus dollar stadium. Only the Chargeros do. Maybe they could build it in Blythe.

You just need to spend 100 million to share a billion dollar stadium and have someone else pay all the operations and maintenance. Maybe if this plan finally get going and your President speaks publicly some of you guys will start to get it.

Not going to run down the numbers for the 100th time. Yes, a smaller SDSU stadium would be better for the fan experience. That is not and may never be on the table.

You think he prefers that option? Lol. In any event, don't get mad because you are all wrapped up in an NFL franchise that is a train wreck. You know, the Sockers are off to a pretty good start.

If the clowns leave, it will happen. Ergo, I "get it."

Seems like the most likely scenario. But a stadium funding measure in 2018 to use general funds will garner no more than the 43% on C from November 2016. They would fail miserably in a 2018 General Fund measure. Everything gonna be ok in the end though. Chargers gonna keep placing those things on the ballot till the electorate gets so disgusted they finally approve one just to end the interminable stadium building debates. It's a great strategy only a rocket scientist like Dean Spanos could concoct.

Oh, OK. You're one of those dudes who think he called the meeting and offered 100 million but was only joking because he knows the Chargers are gone. You're one of those dudes who think SDSU wants to spend 200-300 million plus operations and maintenance for their football program. You'll get it eventually. Maybe. Well , maybe not.

He's covering all his bases friend. That's what smart people do. And then there is King Spanos. Lol. How will he get kicked in the teeth next?

Actually, Spanos is so incompetent they the NFl may bail him out to avoid embarrassing the league. Maybe he is genius after all.

He's covering his bases? Huh? You just said when the Chargers leave you're going to get your own stadium built. Why in the world would he try and bridge the gap and extend this another two years?
Good grief

San Diego needs a new stadium. San Diego can either do it with the Chargers, NFL and San Diego State paying for most of it or don't. The Mayor is confident it will get a simple majority and I will never understand Aztec fans who hope they could potentially lose their football program. And for anyone who doesn't think that a possibility, you're not paying attention LOL. Possible, yes, probable no.

Because amigo, if a stadium is built with your franchise, then sdsu could make some of that, uh, what's it called, $$$, if it has a piece of the action. Good grief.

Regardless, this board loves to tell me San Diego has no appetite for wasting money. Qualcomm will be razed as soon as possible. Where is SDSU football going to be played? How long will it take to decide what happens to the 166 acres? What happens if it doesn't go to SDSU? How fast can you build at one of the other sites? How confident are you SDSU is going to spend that kind of money just for the football program? You'd be better off dropping football and joining the WCC for basketball. Not likely to happen? I'd say less than 50%, but it's better than next to nothing.

I've said all along the devil is in the details and nobody (including SDSU prez) has said a peep. If this is indeed a good deal for SDSU I will support it but I will wait to hear details if/when they are presented. IMO SDSU should NOT put ANY money into an NFL stadium. If we actually have $100 mil in the bank and the Chargers build in MV we should just rent. We could then start a fund raising campaign to get a 40K stadium built on campus. There are a couple of places to put one on campus and we would be in court for a decade or longer but at least we would eventually have our own on campus stadium that would be designed for the AZTECS. One thing SDSU has is time. Unlike the Chargers/NFL; San Diego State University has been here since 1897 and is NEVER leaving San Diego

I think we can agree to disagree on that. Can we at least agree that you desperately need a new QB?

So you understand why this is option number one for Hirshman? 100 million + concessions + parking + advertising + etc. and sharing a stadium with the Chargers >>>>>>>>>>>>> Finding 200-300 million + operating expenses + maintenance expenses + concessions + parking + advertising. And what are you agreeing to disagree with? Run it by me. Explain your logic and where I am wrong.

Uh, no. This program will always struggle playing in a huge NFL stadium. Everyone knows that. This is an option, but never option one. But don't want to be out of options either.

SDSU has a five year clause in our stadium lease contract that specifically states we are guaranteed to have a minimum of 5 years lease if the Chargers depart. Trust me, if they leave SDSU will build a new stadium within 5 years after the Chargers leave in Mission Valley. Particularly if we already have $100 million seed money that Hirshman has offered. If we have $100 mil already and haven't even started a fund raising campaign for it or asked for a student referendum we shouldn't have a problem financing our own stadium.
