There have been a number of incidents with planes and whatnot lately that have been less than restrained, and now Putin has ordered all relatives of Russian officials to return home immediately. That is not a good sign.
Obama has failed miserably when it comes to dealing with Russia and Putin. He's spent too much time trying to lecture Putin and not nearly enough time trying to find ways to ease tensions between our countries.
And if he kicks the can down the road for the next President that will only make the situation worse and harder to resolve. That would make for one historically bad legacy, especially if Russia invades a country (or two) that we consider a friend or ally.
The smart thing to do would be to bring in some new experts on Russian politics - regardless of party affiliation - and try to come up with a new diplomatic strategy now rather than leaving this mess to the next President. That would be the smart thing - the right thing - to do.
