Fred Barnes sizes up The One and tells us how he compares with the great New Dealer. This one is pretty devoid of partisan propaganda. In fact, I think that it could have been written by a Democrat. . . well, by a clear-headed Dem not still under the influence of 2008 campaign rhetoric. Interesting. weeklystandard.com/articles/hes-no-fdrAzWm

Interesting indeed! Barnes was one of many who have pointed out how Obama's style is demeaning to the office of the President.

People loved to label W a know-nothing intellectual lightweight. I'm afraid that Obama, so far, has given us evidence that rhetorical flourish is not the same as wisdom. Obama has made many mistakes, in my opinion, including some pretty big ones. His ability to talk (and talk, and talk, and . . . ) has not prevented him from stumbling on many issues.
I'm sure that our Prez thought he could pull a rabbit out of a hat by meeting with the DC pols. Didn't work out that way in my view. As Barnes points out, Obama's performance in the health summit tended to make him look smaller. A big part of succeeding in public office is to know when not to talk. I guess Obama has not learned that. (Query: Are his advisers afraid to suggest that he ration his public utterances or are they as clueless as he is?)
I have mixed feelings about FDR: Bad in peace, good in war. But there is no denying that there was a majesty to the man that, at least for a time, served him well. Our current Chief Executive indeed seems very small by way of comparison.
