It's stunning that he was as good as he was in the 70's after being forced to miss what would have been the 3 best years of his career.
In the mid 60's he was a wrecking machine - he had Tyson-like knockout power, but he was such a great boxer that he just toyed with his opponents. Had that Ali been allowed to continue fighting it's scary to think just how good he would have become (he just kept getting better and better as the 60's went on).
The real life Apollo Creed. A larger than life personality who had the skills to back up his talk.
He was fun to watch. The Thrilla In Manila is one of the closest heavyweight fights to being a Rocky/Apollo type back and forth slugfest that you'll ever see.
