That video where the Rams COO mentions a 2nd team followed by boos and Kroenke laughing it up.
He's gonna take Spanos to the cleaners lol.

The NFL will be sure it is a fair deal if he goes to LA. It won't be like the inequitable deal SDSU & the city of San Diego has had for years with the Chargers. It will resemble the equitable partnership the Jets & Giants have at MetLife Stadium.

You should check out Kroenke's history of backstabbing partners. I'd be very wary of teaming up with him especially since he's already backstabbed him once!
If Spanos moves, the only way he makes out on this is if he immediately sells, absorbs the 20% tax and the poor sap who buys the team inherits all the problems.

That's why Spanos has his team of lawyers going over the deal. It's an NFL brokered deal. They aren't going to sell an owner down the river. There is risk to any deal but the risk here is not Kroenke.

Sounds like a real problem... 50% owner in the best stadium venue in the world in the second largest media market in the nation as part of the most popular sports franchise (NFL) in the nation. Sounds terrible. :rotflmao

What Kroenke said: "I think that'll be the Chargers' decision...We'll work hard to ... It's always better for us to have a second team. The NFL's done the studies and they say two teams in the market's the right solution. So it's always better for us to have the second team."
What Kroenke was thinking: "The hell you say! I'm not spending billions to take over this market only to share it with somebody else. Goodell said I have to let Spanos decide, but I'm sure not going to make it easy for him."

If Spanos moves, the only way he makes out on this is if he immediately sells, absorbs the 20% tax and the poor sap who buys the team inherits all the problems. Or if you increase your team value to 3 Billion dollars then sell a minority stake in the team to Bob Iger for 500 Million dollars. You can make money that way. Or by getting all the game day parking and concessions money. I know Charger fans don't want to lose the team but stop posting with your heart and post with your head. By any measure it's a good deal for Spanos to move to LA. The only way he stays in SD is if he has an emotional attachment to SD and is willing to make a lot less money over the rest of his life time.

And I don't see the 20% tax to the league being a big deal either... if Spanos sells a stake for 500 million, he "only" gets to keep 400 million. Oh heavens the calamity.

That video where the Rams COO mentions a 2nd team followed by boos and Kroenke laughing it up. He's gonna take Spanos to the cleaners lol. I realize there are many on this board so desperate for the Chargers to leave so they can "take over" both the city and Mission Valley for "their beloved Aztec football", they will want to believe anything that will get them closer to their "dreams". Personally, though I'm pleased the Rams have returned to LA, the fact is, I haven't been personally involved in the NFL since 2004 after I gave up my Bolt season tickets and have no intention of changing that. For the Chargers, this is nothing more than a money grab and Kroenke knows it. The fact is, he's the one with the cheese and he's the one who holds all the cards. He also knows, unlike the Raiders, the Chargers will NEVER gain the traction that would adversely impact his operation. As far as the Aztec dreamers, as any further consideration to keep the Chargers in San Diego would ultimately involve community "buy in", the same would hold true for any other projects in Mission Valley once the land is cleared for development. Keep dreaming.

If Spanos wants the same deal, he should come up with 50% of the equity to build KroenkeWorld Stadium.

The Chargers will never gain traction in LA. Signed the Clippers. Using the Clippers model, it should only take the Chargers just over 25 to gain traction in LA. Good luck to them.

Using the Clippers model, it should only take the Chargers just over 25 (years) to gain traction in LA. Good luck to them. That would be death to the Spanoses. They would need to catch fire in LA quickly, or else the debt load could force them to sell.

Instead of worrying about the Chargers . This a great time for our AD to get the city/county to have an event at the Q or DT honoring the SD winning football team . Then go out into the communities and market the team . Now while the team is coming off a great year , has numerous players coming back , has CAL on the schedule at the Q . Stay focused on the SDSU football team on the field .
Charger issue may not be resolved for a while . Bottom line it will be where ever Spanos gets best deal . Already he knows they will be #2 team in LA , plus USC and UCLA football . Chargers got boo'd yesterday , LA does not want them . If a NFL fair deal is needed for Rams, does Dean have the money to split every thing Rams have paid for , land, half the 2 billion for stadium , relocation fees ,use of USC stadium , training facility, no money from NFL to build .? Will Goldman pay for the Chargers ? Rams are coming to LA as a hero , Chargers as a carpet bagger money only . Last placed team in their division .

Lol, Chargers fans desperately clinging to any shred of hope. Meanwhile all real Aztec fans know we're effectively in a no lose situation. Every option is an upgrade for us, just waiting to see WHICH upgrade.

By any measure it's a good deal for Spanos to move to LA. The only way he stays in SD is if he has an emotional attachment to SD and is willing to make a lot less money over the rest of his life time. If they stay they stay. If they go they go. I'm way beyond that point now. Now I'm just trying to analyze the situation. How is it a good deal to go to LA? They have to borrow everything to make the move. No one knows the real amount but it could be up to $1.5 billion dollars or more (not including interest). Or they become a tenant for a lot less money but they also make a lot less money. That's the problem. To do anything big they have to borrow the money. Or they don't borrow the money and become mere tenants and have zero power in a market where they will be very irrelevant. If Spanos is looking to sell, LA is the obvious way to go but there is no indication that he wants to sell. He's already turned the team over to his sons and this is their future. If they want to continue to own the team, SD is the obvious choice. And I don't know how much pride or ego Dean has but most wealthy people have pretty damn big egos. I don't know if he can accept being a underling to Kroenke in Kroenke's stadium and in Kroenke's city to a project that steamrolled his project and a project that they were supposed to be full partners in the beginning but Kroenke backstabbed because he had no need for Spanos to tag along. And to add to that, his legacy will not be as a visionary, a winner or anything positive at all. He'll be Art Modell. And all for just being a tenant? Or being a partner to a project that he had nothing to do with. Kroenke may be Art Modell in St. Louis' eyes but he's being hailed as a hero in LA because he brought back the team that was stolen from them in the first place. And he's going to have the crown jewel stadium in all of the NFL. There will be Super Bowls and there's already talk of Pro Bowls, the NFL draft, Final Fours, a NFL headquarters, a possible West Coast Hall of Fame and all sorts of events and attractions to LA. Does Spanos really want to stand next to someone like that? He's never been seen as a powerful owner but he'll be the ultimate joke of an owner after that. Will he go to LA? He may have no choice but I don't think he wants to because he despises Kroenke and the report is that he was the one who requested to have the option to work something out with San Diego put into the decision last week and I think because they were so stunned they need more time to figure out what to do and he wants nothing to do with Kroenke. The fact that he was so shocked that all the other owners turned against him shows you what a terrible businessman he is. He had no contingency plan if he didn't get Carson. He screwed up royally by taking a dump all over San Diego last year and burning all those bridges and now he may be screwed no matter where he goes because the Raiders are ready to pounce on whatever option he does not take.

Lol, Chargers fans desperately clinging to any shred of hope. I agree it is laughable. Here's a little nugget from Kevin Acee who's says he is wowed the more he finds out about the LA scenario....he said that the Chargers make up to $50-80 million a year in San Diego but would make $300 million in LA as a partner in Inglewood.

Good find. Pretty much defeats the argument that because 150 Rams fans booed when the prospect of the Chargers also using the stadium was announced that somehow will mean the Rams will work to prevent that. As John Clayton put it the other day, it's likely that within a month, and IMO certainly by March 23, the Chargers will confirm they're going to L.A.
