On the verge of what could be a glorious Aztecs weekend, I'm handing in my papers to Aztecmesa. Been here from the start, but I'm just not enamored with how its being run, so I'm checking out. I've made a few friends over the years (online and in person) from this forum, and for that I'm thankful-and I hope to continue it on a different forum. I'm not a fan of the "I'm outta here" threads, and the only reason I'm submitting one is to inform those of you who may have enjoyed some of of the things I had to say, is that I'll be over on A Z T E C S F I G H T. COM and I encourage those feeling likewise to give it a shot. They seem to be getting some groundswell going, and there is some good interaction among members. I realize by posting that, that this thread will probably be deleted, but I hope its not. Thanks for the memories (both good and bad) and I'll look for you down the internet road.

come on: the constant "I'm am a victim/ we got screwed" and constant negativity of so called "aztec fans" that bash players, coaches, the league, the AD
With all these "fans" who needs enemies!

There is no law saying that you can't participate in more than one fan site. Also, withdrawing from AztecMesa will deprive us of your valuable input. For that matter, withdrawing will deprive you of the valuable input that so many AztecMesa members provide on a regular basis.
In any case, this is still (more or less) a free country.

This board was deprived of valuable input a long time ago with the comment deletions and ban hammer. Still gets more traffic, but with so little spare time in a day quantity doesn't always trump quality.

I came back remembering that this, like others, is nothing more than an OPINION board that I had previously seemed to be taking far to seriously. Now I see more humor in it than anything else and NEVER take any opinions about me to heart. How I measure my self-worth is certainly not coming off this board. We have discussions about the accomplishments and failures of others, but at the end of the day the only REAL accomplishment that matters is MY DEGREE that on occasion I will proudly display via my Aztec Alumni gear, (for the record, UCLA too). You're giving this board way too much power, aztecandre. See it for what it is. I send this post because you're someone worth keeping on this board. You allow me to rise above the humor when I need to. Take a break, then come back. It really is just for sh*ts and giggles and that's about it..  |

 What's nice about these boards is that you can stay or leave at your will. No one forces anyone to be a part of one; no one forces anyone to read anything; no one forces anyone to stay or leave. Well, if you're a real a-hole then you might get your a-hole kicked off. Not sure why Andre has to leave just to make a point, but that's his right. |

I don't get why people don't like the mods on this board. I say stupid $#!+ all the time and I've never been edited.
Besides, this board has banned aztectom, steveaztec, JOCaztec, and others who are message board terrors. Would never want to go to another message board where those guys run rampant.

Are you saying that there should be no rules on a fan website? That posters should be able to post anything they want? And I want to stress the word "anything." On this site there are rules, rules you may not like, but rules nonetheless. I think the rules are both fair and necessary. In terms of not allowing posters to saying anything at all, may I refer you to a famous old saying. "We have freedom of speech; Nevertheless, one does not have the right to shout fire in a crowded auditorium when there is no fire." The limits of free speech on a fan website ......well, this one for sure ...... involve maintaining a certain decorum. That means, among other things, not attacking other posters personally. It also means not posting copyrighted material. And so on. I can guarantee you that administering a fan website is not too different from trying to referee the arguments of three or four quarrelsome children. It is time consuming, difficult, and, sadly, unappreciated. At least in the case of raising children there is the hope that as they mature and have kids of their own, they will come to understand why mom and dad were really not such kiil-joys after all. When dealing with fan site regulars there is no such hope. WLR |

It's the melodramatic actor in some people that just needs attention. They want to make a public statement on the way out. That's fine - they are certainly entitled to do so. Does AztecAndre fall into that group? I don't know. I don't know him personally, so I really can't say. Honestly? AztecAndre will be missed. I haven't always agreed with him (sometimes I have, sometimes I haven't), but I have always valued his input. It's a shame that some people and aren't willing to put in the time and effort to make things better and would rather just make a dramatic exit statement instead... Regardless of what may have been posted, however, you will always be welcomed here Andre. |
