It's pretty clear that the issue that is the most divisive on The Mesa is the perceived, "Negativity," of some of the members (myself included) who have been highly critical of Rocky Long, Jim Sterk, and the football program in general.
But why does this criticism bother you?
If someone sees something that they genuinely believe is a problem, shouldn't they comment on it? If there are legitimate concerns why is expressing those concerns such an issue? You are not being criticized personally - Rocky Long or Jim Sterk may be, but not you, personally.
Even if you believe that said criticism is being posted too often, why does that bother you?
It has been said by many people that the worst fanbases are not the critical, angry ones, but rather the ones who are just OK with whatever happens. Apathy makes for the worst fans with the softest support. Critical, often angry fans merely express that they care about a program or team in a way that may differ from how you express how you care about the program - and that doesn't make either point of view or angle more valid than the other.
I have posted before that we need more tolerance on this board than what we've seen. And yet intolerance seems to be in excess supply.
None of the criticism on this board needs to be personal among ourselves. It certainly shouldn't be taken personally unless it is delivered that way towards board members (which would be against forum rules, by the way, and would get said board member posting such comments in trouble).
So if, "Negative," comments about the football program and Rocky Long truly bother you, I am genuinely curious as to why? Do you see Rocky Long as the coach to elevate this program to an average of 9.5 regular season wins per year? Or are you concerned that the next coach may be worse and are afraid that such criticism may gain traction outside of this board?
What is it that bothers you so much about, "Negativity," and criticism of the coaches/administrators running the football program?

Looks like you have aksed this everytime you have a meltdown and get blasted... When you keep getting having same issues over and over with several different people, you should probably stop and think. Maybe the problem is YOU not the other people.

That's not a very constructive answer. Actually, it borders on trolling and doesn't answer the question at all. Look, if you've just got an agenda and want to discredit Rocky's critics this isn't the right forum for you. I'm asking a serious question that requires you to really think - why does criticism of a third party bother you so much? You are not Rocky Long, so why do you get so bent out of shape when ANYONE criticizes him more than once? You are not being personally attacked or insulted, so why does it bother you?

But pot, this is kettle, you may want to look in the mirror. You spend an awful lot of time being critical and even insulting rather than being constructive. An awful lot of time. If you ever took a debate class you know that being insulting loses you the debate every time. You can't make it personal. Attack the points, not the person delivering them. By the way, I never post anything I don't believe. I don't post things to get attention. I was exactly the same way when Chuck Long was here. I saw serious flaws in his coaching, flaws that were inherent to him as a coach (poor strategic thinking and poor leadership), and those flaws weren't going to go away so I relentlessly went after him because I knew that the longer we kept him the worse off this program would be. Now I honestly believe that Rocky is hurting the growth of this program. Not because he's a bad coach (he is a fairly good coach, but not a very good coach or a great coach), but because he is who he is and he won't change. And at almost 66 years old expecting him to change would be a little unrealistic. The longer Rocky stays the longer it takes for this program to grow and take the next step or two up that ladder. As I honestly believe that it would be dishonest of me to post anything indicating that I support his retention, and I am not going to be dishonest. That's something I just won't do.

That's not rational and that's not logical. Especially since Rocky's critics are doing nothing different than what you'd hear on sports talk radio. And a poll like that would be a bad idea since it would violate forum rules about making things personal. I'm sorry if I annoy you, though. I'm just expressing my honest opinions about things that I believe are vitally important to the football program.

I pointed out that posters are tired of being subject to your repetitive and generalized posts. You ask why posters are bothered by criticism, and I told you they are not bothered buy it. They are irritated with you harping and spaming on the same arguments over and over and over and over and over and over again on into eternity... LET THIS SINK IN FOR A BIT.... The debate isn't why does criticism bother posters, but why is it your posts bother others. We all know the facts, the season only at the 1/2 way point. Many, including myself have been critical of Rock and Horton so far. Many have given specific examples made 1 or 2 posts and then moved on. We do not continue to post 500 word essays every week rehashing the same general ideas in different ways. If you want to be critical of Rocky, FINE. He has plenty of short comings and we all can see them, but say your pease and move on. Pick examples of something during the game and discuss.

But why do you care whether it's two sentences every other week or four paragraphs four times a day? How does it affect you either way? You're not the one who is receiving the criticism, so who cares if I slam Rocky for what I believe is inadequate coaching to elevate the program to the next level? Unless you are taking that criticism personally or are taking this whole message board thing way too seriously it shouldn't matter. Just ignore my criticism of Rocky - there shouldn't be a reason to get upset and bitch about it, especially if you don't entirely disagree with it! Honestly, I just don't get why you're so upset about it. It doesn't affect you personally.

Still making things personal?
And yet you still haven't answered the question - why do you care if someone (ANYONE) posts criticism muliple times? How does that affect you?
All I do is post my opinions and then I RESPOND when someone posts a rebuttal. Not responding is the same is backing down and stating that they're right and I'm wrong. I don't do that. When I honestly believe that I'm right I never, ever back down. And I'm sorry if that bothers you.
But it shouldn't. It's irrational to get upset by someone posting their honest opinions unless they have said something personal about you. I haven't done that. If you get tired of reading those posts then JUST STOP READING THEM!!
Instead, you make these snide comments and make things personal, which is against forum rules. I'll never understand that mentality. I disagree with you, or I don't like you making the same comment more than once or twice, so I will insult you. And your post above was very insulting (and it isn't the first, second, or third time you've resorted to that kind of thing).
I don't just post the same thing over and over again. I RESPOND to other people who themselves have replied to my original post. I would never repeat a point in a thread if it weren't rebutted. I respond to the rebuttals.

If we were all in a party hanging out and a guy took a giant crap on the floor, in the middle of the room, should I just keep hanging out in that room because it doesn't effect me personally ?
Asking for a friend.

Asking for a friend. Crude, classless, and not even close to an accurate analogy. If ANYONE posts something that you don't want to read and you don't read it then it's not really there, is it? On a message board you can ignore threads and comments that you know you don't want to read, so why read them? It doesn't make any sense. And why get mad at someone for posting their honest opinions? You post your opinions, PB posts his, and I post mine - so what? My posts about tolerance clearly fell on deaf ears. That's a shame. We should all be able to at least peacefully co-exist since we support the same programs. There shouldn't be a litmus test as to who a real fan is and what acceptable opinions are - or how often you can post your opinions. (Once a day, twice, five times - how many really is too many?)

So you have no answer. It would seem that you just don't like it when someone points out something you don't want to think about. Got it. You defending yourself like this reminds me sooooo much of what Steve went through on this board. Some of your posts are identical. You're defending yourself much the same way Steve did. Now you know what he went through to some degree. Except that I never insult anyone who takes shots at me. Steve would engage in the insults and namecalling when he felt that he was being attacked - he ratcheted up the conflict rather than trying to find common ground. And, of course, Steve's biggest problem was that he insisted on defending the indefensible (Chuck Long), and took criticism of Chuck personally (as if HE were being insulted). So it isn't really the same kind of situation.
