Yes, I did, too. Started the day when Bill Pickles opened and finished with a night cap at Rathskeller. Good times.

Thanks Getmyjive. Definitely used your tips to hit many of the bars on your list. I drank a few fishbowls too and bought some for current Penn St. students that were really nice to us. Good stuff!

My buddies and I had a great time in Happy Valley this weekend. The real fans at the game could not have been nicer. Sharing food and beverages and asking, "How we have been treated." We have been traveling for almost 25 years… these fans were among the best!

Great to hear that people who went cross-country had a great game experience. Probably better than those of us who stayed here in San Diego, LOL

I don't post too often, but I'm definitely compelled to comment on this...I agree with other posters that the fan and game experience was fantastic!...(minus the result of course) I've been fortunate enough to go to many Aztec road games...some Pac 12, mwc, ND, Mich, OSU...and this was the best roadie so far!
They were asking if we were having a good time, if anyone was being an arse, offering directions AND beers! Even had folks asking for a picture with us...though my facetious side was thinking that we were just lambs getting fattened up before going to the slaughterhouse!
It was a great fall day for football with a coolness in the air (nice break from heat/humidity of SD!), a fun downtown with good food and bars and cute ladies! I always recommend Aztec fans check out big time football especially outside the western areas, when the game is the biggest thing in town and 100,000+ fans are cheering!
To Getmyjive: Thank You for taking so much time to give us the low down on State College, the hotels, the parking, the good spots to check out, etc! It helps a lot when someone can give you the ins and outs of the locale! I check in on this site everyday and you have more posts than me Haha! Thanks Again!

So to summarize, the only difference between PSU fans and die hard Aztec fans on this board is that we're the only ones who trash our team? Sigh.

The best fans I ever meet were the Louisiana Tech fans when we went to the New Orleans Bowl. The invited my dad, older bro, and I to every BBQ in site (free food) and they thanked us for traveling and visiting for the game. This was all before the game was played. After the game, they were all very gracious to us, and complimentary of the program.

I've had some good and not so good roadies and Penn State fans are now top of the list. I echo what you're reading here. We got invited to a great tailgate after the game and they insisted we eat and drink with them. My two sons met some real cool PSU girls as well. We could not have been better treated and they love their Nitany Lions for sure. One funny thing happened the previous night when we were walking around downtown. A obviously inebriated young lady saw our logo shirts and said, "Puwwww, USD sucks." Made my night.

I'll echo all that. They were extremely gracious. The guy running the b&b I was staying at said it was a real point of pride for their fan base to be as gracious as possible... Except against Rutgers. Not sure why, but apparently they really hate Rutgers. Last year was their first year in the conference and the first time we played in like 15 years. We held a 22-2 record against them and do a great job of recruiting in NJ, so they hate us. Well we played at there place last year and they treated our fans like trash. It was, by far, th worst experience that our fans have ever had at an away game. This year they came to our place and were treated well... so well that their fans commented on how embarrassed they were with how they treated us and how they yell "f--- penn state" on third down. Glad to hear that everyone here had a good time. A couple of things. What do you expect from New Jersey. And way to kill those Rutgers idiots with kindness. Also, to top it off, thanks for being classy!!!!!

They were great in Happy Valley. The best I have ever experienced. Without question the best fans I have ever experienced. I've been to a lot of roadies for both SDSU and my other alma mater and have never experienced more gracious people ever. Must have been told "thanks for coming" at least 50 times from people just randomly walking by me. Not one bad word uttered or look given to me. Even better than Notre Dame fans?? Notre Dame was so great, the starring LB from their 1988 national championship team invited me and my friend to his personal tailgate party. It was off the charts. Darrell "Flash" Gordon was his name....at the time he was the director of the Monogram Club at ND. He and the entire bunch made us feel at home and took outstanding care of us. He even let me wear his his National Champiinship Ring. Couldn't imagine better fans than those.

Just returned last night from the road trip and I have to echo the previous comments: great tailgating with beers and food and good conversation given freely by their fans. The Rathskeller the night before was fun. The stadium and whole game experience (especially most of the first half) were intense. If we could get support that was even half of what they have, I'd be in hog heaven.

Got back yesterday. The fans, the town, the campus and the game day environment were all top notch. For the college towns I've been to I put it up with Madison. The fans were as nice as the ND fans if not nicer. Everywhere we went on Friday we had Penn State fans inviting us to swing by their tailgate on Saturday. So glad I went to the game and so bummed that I don't see another east coast road trip on the horizon besides South Alabama.
I think every year we should be playing one game on the east coast. Would love to see games against Kentucky, Duke, Rutgers, Syracuse, UConn, Indiana, Purdue, Vanderbilt, etc. Where we also have a decent chance of pulling out a win.

Also, to top it off, thanks for being classy!!!!! Well, that's probably why we get under their skin so much. We take a ton of kids from NJ, and I'm not just talking about football. I am 100% sure that Penn State is largest importer of NJ talent in both sports and academics. South Jersey in particular is all PSU country and it drives them crazy. But yeah, we killed them with kindness and they were shocked that we didn't hold the same hatred towards them as they did towards us. As for everyone else, again, glad I could help and I'm glad that other PSU fans were just as nice. I thought you guys played very well and had a good gameplan. Your defense was very hard to run against which gave us problems until the fumble in the 4th quarter. Really could have gone either way. Hopefully we can meet up again sometime in the future. Best of luck in conference play.

My goal is to see every FBS campus/stadium. I have been fortunate to have lived on both coasts so it made attending games there much easier. Plus on the east coast it is possible to pull a doubleheader some Saturdays and I once pulled off a Friday/Saturday triple-header. I'm hoping that the game next year at South Alabama is at a time where I can hit it and an SEC game the same day. I have long way to go and hope I'm able to live long enough to actually pull it off.
