Totally agree with you on MV as only viable option. I know the campus community fairly well and I know of nowhere to put a stadium I guess it's time to post this picture again: If that ever materializes I'll be amazed. I see the computer image but does it really fit or just a fantasy? And no new parking for 35-40 k fans?

Of course it really fits. Just compare the footprint of Aztec Bowl under Viejas to the new stadium image. As for parking, the trolley tracks run right past the stadium. A trolley station could be built right outside the stadium entrance. It would only have to be open for game days. Most game days are Saturdays where all of the campus parking would be available. In addition, SDSU owns the Adobe Falls property just north of the new stadium, on the other side of the freeway. New parking garages could be built there. The administration has been quoted as saying there are several sites on campus that have been identified as possible locations for an OCS stadium.

I'm not too confident in that building parking structures on the Adobe Falls site, But man oh man, would i love to know what other sites on campus the AD has brainstormed about. Would it be possible to tear down the Sports Deck, take over the Hardy Elementary site and all the football practice fields so it could be right across the street from Viejas?

What about Hardy Elementary? It seems like a bad spot for an elementary school anyway. Of course I have no idea how that would even work.

It'd be great location, right on Montezuma. I don't even know why a school is there either, in a college area. Wonder how it'd be relocated and to where.

1. Build the NFL stadium in tandem with the convention center expansion downtown. 2. Have SDSU buy (via the State) the current Mission Valley stadium site. 3. Expand the SDSU campus on the MV site with new housing, biz school, research park, maybe law school, and, oh, yeah, stadium 4. For all those who worry about the cost to taxpayers of an NFL stadium, the productivity gains and outright economic injection from a new convention center and from boosting SDSU enrollment to 50k+, would more than offset it. 5. I've been preaching this tune on this board (and earlier incarnations) since about 1998. Not sure why our genius politicians, Spanosites haven't figured this out. You have been preaching this and I have been agreeing that this would be the ideal situation. Where is everyone else?

It's possible-- IF the school district wants to sell, and IF SDSU can come up with a cool $40 or $50 million to pay for the new school. If the school is still needed, I don't think the kids' parents would be happy to locate it all the way across the freeway, do you? And especially since the school district already has Hearst Elementary around the corner from your suggested relocation.

I don't know about Adobe Falls either. I was just speculating where additional parking might be put. I have no inside information, just what has been posted here on the forum. Other locations that I've heard mentioned are the Hardy Elementary site, the practice fields and (music?) buildings just west of Viejas, as well as property west of College Ave. near Alvarado. I like the site in the picture because it might be designed to keep a lot of the traffic flow out of the residential neighborhood and cut down on the law suits to block construction.

OK, Marshall's right. In fact almost everybody on here can agree with what is needed. The real question is how to get there. Ideas are common, action is not. Who among the current cast of power brokers is going to stand up and make this happen? Sterk, Hirshman, Faulconer, uh .....oh well, it's still a great idea.

The plaza will have a 52 week revenue stream. A football stadium only generates maybe 8 weeks of revenue. Big difference. That could be expanded if there were concerts/events and if this stadium was partnered with an MLS team. As much as I prefer not to see us partner with anyone, I guess that's our only viable option.

Grant interview by Marty. Appreciate her bringing up SDSU as one of her talking points. That fact that the question was pointed and allowed Marshal to expound on a key part of SDSU's program shows insight from both of them. I have always liked Marty, she is pretty cute too... She has always been a good reporter.

Theres plenty of parking on a Saturday. Considering many students would just walk, theres the trolley right there, I just don't know about actually tailgating (if alcohol would ever be ok)

College football was fun for me to watch when I was on campus... but mostly because Marshall and Darnay were on the field. It'd be much more fun with:
