so far. Stronger leg than Novak for kickoffs and deadly accurate so far in FG. I hope the Bolts reserve a roster spot for the kid.

Bold move, but the right move.

Bold move, but the right move. Yes. I have a good feeling about Lambo. He potentially can do it all. Be progressive Chargers.

Bold move, but the right move. I would have rather seen Novak and Lambo so Lambo could learn from Novak each and every week.

Can't carry two kickers on a roster unfortunately with the way the 53 man is constructed, even without our injuries on the line and at outside linebacker. It was one or the other. I'd be shocked if more than a handful of teams carry multiple kickers. Lambo's valued due to the touchbacks, something Novak couldn't accomplish with any regularity. When you just boot the ball out of the endzone, it helps mask some obvious coverage flaws.

The value of Novak as a mentor during the long season would be as valuable to Lambo's future as the Chargers success.

Our team can't is what I was referencing. We had to carry an extra outside linebacker due to the Williams injury, plus an extra offensive lineman due to Troutman's injury. The Bills are the only team right now after the cuts to carry a placekicker and a kickoff specialist.

Agreed, Ryan. It's helpful when teams have a punter who can handle kickoff duties with regularity and consistency at kicking for touchbacks. It's a strain on the 53-man to have two kickers, that would be a real luxury particularly since alot of teams go back and forth on carrying three quarterbacks which is obviously a position of important need.
Not to mention, Novak seems to be determined to land a full time job elsewhere and just might depending on injuries and cuts.

Personally I don't know how Troutman has a job and Williams hasn't shown much at all except as a part-time special teamer. The mentoring that Novak could have provided would have been priceless to Lambo. Preparation on a week to week basis in the NFL with all the variations (wind) that each stadium offers. Lambo kicks off and Novak kicks FGs. Either way it's a done deal. I hope the Chargers don't regret not keeping Novak (too).

Novak to mentor Lambo with the different aspects of each stadium i.e. wind direction etc.. Lambo is booting the heck out of the ball on kickoffs which is awesome.
