DeAndre Ayton, the No. 1 prospect in the 2017 class, told @scoutrecruiting his top three schools are Duke, Kansas & Kentucky. tell you right now. he isnt going to end up at any of these schools. Overseas like Brandon Jennings?

In all honesty, we've got no shot at this kid. I'm not being a pessimist, just a realist. We don't develop bigs, and outside of Kawhi, our guys don't stick in the NBA. Obviously, he's a significant cut above our standard recruit and he'll stick wherever he goes to college, but we aren't those top schools he named. We just aren't. this is a falsehood. Malcolm Thomas, Marcus Slaughter, Aerick Sanders developed greatly while at SDSU. We have had to deal with transfers in the post which does not support your argument, Habel, Mackell, Green, Davis. So Skylar Spencer, the school and MWC's all time leader in blocked shots is a disappointment, because he disappears in the offensive categories. I suppose if he was 7-1 he could have given Manute Bol a run for his money. I'd say a recruit like Ayton fits our play style to a T. Ayton is not a polished inside threat. Can you even compare his post skills to Renardo Sydney or Jeremy Tyler at this stage? A big with a jump shot but no post game is Malik Pope.

Does not seem we have had 1 high quality HS player that prefers to play the 5 position that has gone directly from HS to SDSU . Is Nolan Narain ? Do not know? Also have not had a player from the Aztecs that has gone on from SDSU to NBA starter at the 5 position , in at least the last 10 years . It was hoped we could get Cage or Stanback for 2016, but that did not happen . What are realistic chances at signing Ayton or McCoy another top 5 ?

Isn't Spencer a 5?...he seems to play within the paint mostly with his back to the basket and is a defensive specialist...
I still believe that Cage will play more 4 than 5 when it's all done...
Stanback though is a 5 through and through...too bad he decided to sign at another school...
As far as the local kids...if they have a chance to go to a true "blue blood"...I wouldn't fault them (yes...perhaps it's a warped sense of reality)...but in the end...someone with true 5-star talent fully intends to be a one-and-done...so they probably don't fit well into the SDSU system...who likes to stress fundamentals like defense and graduating from college...schools like Duke, Kentucky, Kansas are more "showcase schools"...than a developer of raw talent...it helps that virtually every one of their games are nationally televised...
The Aztecs will continue to grind and get better every year...
I'm happy to know where we are...knowing where we came from only a few short years ago...

Correct Spencer does play the 5 , has set record for blocks in MW and defense but has not really shown the development on offense that some of us had hoped for . Chol has not done what had been hoped also .
IMO if Fisher had the opportunity, he would take a one and done ,any time he could and has said so numerous times .

Pretty Impressive at any level. I am not impressed. Those were my stats in high school. Oh, he did that in one game?!? That was my entire HS career. Now I am impressed!!

What's crazy is that the game was close! Gaudy stat lines usually come from close games. Stars usually sit during the 4th quarter of blowouts, coaches don't want to be accused of running up the score.

DeMarcus Cousins scored 56 in a loss last night. That's one amazing stat line - best I can recall ever seeing. Notice the game was in Lawrence, KS...I'm sure the local university was there in full force.
