Ok so what is looking like the most likely outcome? It is up in the air? Or is there a clear leader? Please keep your biases out of it and don't say what you want to happen, just what it looks like will happen. I'm not good with this stuff. If there is a funding issue it will be known before the end of the week. I still think, and hope, the Chargers end up downtown like they want. The Bolts have no real plan other than SD or being a renter in LA. Even if they don't like this proposal they'll have to be constructive moving forward in the negotiation process.

Because volunteering time includes 20 seasons of season tix? And is there not a minimum donation required for making the BOD list? Or am I conflating two separate things? Huh??? Nice try, now go back and RE-READ what I wrote about volunteering time.

AM, where Charger fans gave their say! Thanks for clarifying that Chargers fans have no right to voice their opinion here. Glad I got that straight now.

I just don't see them leaving town.

Ya got 2 strikes now. You get 1 more or you could just turn around and walk back to the bench now.

So, basically they are asking you to both repeat the co-tenancy mistake of the past 40 years AND pay for it.
Or, in other words, "We want to attach an anchor to your ankle and throw you into the deep, SDSU, for four more decades. Oh, and here's the bill for the anchor. Don't worry, though, you can pay as you go. Just hold your breath..."

Looking at the CSAG proposal on the surface, it seems like a better deal for the city than the Chargers so I think there are tough negotiations ahead and I think the CSAG did a smart thing by have $300M of wiggle room in their proposal because the Chargers are going to balk at some of the things on the proposal. But the Chargers ultimately have nowhere else to go. Carson is a joke and being Kroenke's tenant isn't a winning proposal for them so I think they have no choice but to hammer out a deal with the city.

The real question is how much longer will the negotiations continue before both sides appear to be nearly happy, clocks ticking.

Regardless of the board, this is ultimately about the Chargers. Reviewing the proposal this appears to be the first viable idea that has surfaced. But it's a proposal in its earliest of stages. Yes, there's still a lot that would have to be hammered out, including dealing with the inevitable lawsuits if this proposal actually gains some serious traction. After all, this IS San Diego. Regarding SDSU, they have little if any leverage in this deal. They've done nothing to deserve it.

The real question is will SDSU have an opportunity to purchase land for much needed campus growth. Many questions will be answered in the next 2 weeks.

"San Diego State University appreciates the opportunity to have participated with the Citizens Stadium Advisory Group in the planning process for a new stadium and we are eager to participate fully in a partnership that will retain the Chargers in San Diego and advance our region. As we continue our efforts to become one of our nation's top 50 public universities, the development of, and investment in our athletic programs, including our football program, is a critical priority. And we are committed to channeling the support of our 350,000 students, faculty, staff and alumni to ensure the successful development of a new stadium for San Diego."

I wouldn't be surprised if state isn't the one that buys the 75 acres.
Looks like they are going to share a stadium
On the positive side
Day said be could see the Aztecs having a footprint on the stadium design to include there own locker room

Although based on our portion of the financing plan you would have to think we are mostly still an afterthought in the process. Guess we'll find out soon.

Speaking of the 75 acres though, I wonder if the school still has any interest in purchasing land for general campus expansion and not necessarily for a stadium.

Simply put...the majority of the people in the city / county of San Diego don't care about sports and would rather use our tax money for other projects beyond that of a sports stadium...this is the reason why a new stadium will never happen...and even if the politicians manage to avoid a vote...there will then be lawsuits filed from here to Monday to prevent the construction from ever happening...but heck...maybe it'll work it's way through the courts quickly and efficiently....just like the Mt. Soledad cross...

The lawsuits will be a waste of tax payer funds. Buts that's how some lawyers make money by filing frivolous lawsuits to only be compensated for hours worked by filing a claim with a state
