I would like to hope that the top G5 champion were one of the auto-bids ... it would at least give the appearance of equal access. I would be a really like to see an 8 team CFP that was made up of the five P5 Champs and the other 3 were Notre Dame, MWC Champ (SDSU) and AAC Champ (Cincinnati) if not for about 10 or so deserving programs total between CUSA/MAC/SBC being left out I would totally agree. It is interesting though that your suggestion would effectively create a new 90 team playoff division. Which IMO would be the perfect number of D1 programs. The tv ratings would be astronomical. I am just going off the assumption that the MWC and the AAC will be able to separate themselves from the rest of the G5 and be close enough to the P5 to warrant inclusion in their "Master Plan". I didn't mean to intentionally leave out the 10 or so deserving teams from my 2019 playoff scenario ... it was more like 5 auto-bids (the P5), Top Ranked G5 Champ SDSU (13-0 & beat Pac-12 Champ UCLA, at UCLA) and 2 at-large being Notre Dame and AAC Champ Cincinnati -- who was just beat out by SDSU for the G5 auto-bid as they went 12-1 (losing to B1G Champion Ohio State to open the season).

the new rules regarding Championship games for the BigXII have already removed any need for a "safety net" for the Aztecs -- it looks like SDSU will be in the MWC unless we get an invite for all sports to a P5 or form a best of the rest conference. Meanwhile, the CFP limited to 4 teams won't last forever ... just gotta wait for something like 2 of the teams being from a single conference or an independent like Notre Dame to make it and shut 2 or more of the P5 conferences out of the playoffs. Expansion to 8 teams should happen soon after that. I just hope when they do expand to 8 teams (and they will), 1 of those spots will be for the top G5 team -- leaving 5 auto-bids for the P5 champions and 2 at-large for independents and/or a 2nd team from a top conference (or in rare years a 2nd G5 team). I completely overlooked that part about the deregulated CCG. Thanks for pointing it out. The Big XII isn't going to add anyone for a while now since they can stay at 10 teams (although they should address West Virginia's isolation). Cincy, Memphis or someone else not named BYU would eat into the revenue pie more than add to it from what I've read on a couple message boards. There is still the SJSU angle though. Do you believe SJSU should stay in the Mountain West? As a fan of a team that spent 2 decades in the darkness of a floundering athletic department (1985-2005) -- I will not cast stones at San Jose State. With the right leadership, investments and hires they could find their way to success. They have the media market and local donor base / companies to get things going in the right direction, and they seem to be trying to use SDSU as a blueprint, so ...
