Unless we get a grad transfer for 2015 -16 season , similar to what Davis was last year, a regular transfer means 1 less recruit for 2016 and what we think our chances are for actually getting the guys you mention for 2015. Would guess it all depends on how many guys from the current roster come back for 2015 and 2016 seasons . Exactly right. Regular transfers will happen less often because we can get freshman that are better. Graduate transfers (GT) is another matter. I think we will take a GT if we find the right player.

I think there will be a few guys wanting to transfer to SDSU and Fisher will certainly take someone if they are the right fit. I actually think it is pretty likely (and necessary) when you look at our projected seniors (and assume Pope leaves before then).

As of today 13 guys on scholarship . 3 guys graduate after this year and possibly Winston to NBA . We add BJ and JH ,so that means 12 or 11 guys . Then it depends on if some one is going to transfer out , if so what position , and what position needs help. Plus does Fisher prefer having 11 , 12 , or 13 guys on scholarship. This year we had to red shirt ZC , maybe would have been good for Zabo to red shirt. but not every one is willing to do it . For 2016 we lose Spencer/ Chol at the 5 and possibly Pope if he is a first round selection for NBA in 2016 . So the 5 position is the need . and maybe 4 or 3 ? Do have commitment from K. Smith as a guy that could play the 2 or 3 . Would Zylan move over to the 3 ? As we hope to sign Cage for 2016 or others . A lot of moving parts . Also remember guys have to be willing to play to play D. here.

I think if Winston AND Pope both come back, and no one transfers out, I could easily see a straight up transfer coming here during the summer. With Chol/SS graduating, they may want to have an upper classmen (RS JR) for the 2016 season to go with Jones, Cheathum & any incoming FR. Obviously you don't take him if you don't think he'll be a rotation guy in '16, but there may be a few of them around via transfer.
If we're talking after THIS season I could see us taking a Senior transfer if he's a #1/#4, or a regular transfer if he's a #5. Otherwise, hold for HS in '16 class.

3 more available for 2016. Whether we tie up one of those for a (non-graduate) transfer depends on how well the coaches think 2016 recruiting is going. A transfer would have to be better than the Recruit we don't sign. I am not too worried about only 2 years since a recruit at that level would likely be gone too.

Agreed, or at least bring greater experience that may well be needed. Doesn't have to start, just be a rotation/contributor. Either way, we really only need either an experienced PG or a good PF to play next year, and don't want to step on too many FR toes. Hence my comment about senior transfers at those positions. If we get a #5 true transfer, then sitting out next year is really no big deal behind SS/AC, and he'll bring experience to go with talented youth the following year when eligible.
Another factor is the belief Cage wants to play the #4, so when looking at a #5 transfer after this year we have to weigh the odds of landing an impact #5 in the '16 class as well. If we think we can land a Collins then maybe we shy away; if we think he's a real long shot & will most likely end up with a develop guy like Jones, I'd jump at also adding a #5 transfer and back off somewhere else. There's bound to be additional attrition as well after next year.

So in other words ,let this season play out get a good run in MM ,which helps recruiting immensely . also the new JAM practice facility. Have a good conversation with the current squad as to who is coming back . Evaluate the squad , see if/ where there maybe a need for 2015 and even 2016 . try to get a realistic look at the chances of signing 2016 HS recruits seems many of the 2016 recruits across the country are signing earlier ?. We have KS at the 2 or 3 position for 2016 , so make sure we are adding both quality and by position needed going forward .
