My choice for offensive coordinator is. Doug Nussmeier former Michigan OF. His style is classic Pro-Style with innovative passing attack. He would fit right-in. He was former OC at Alabama. If he does well in the next two years he would be in_line for a Head Coach position. I also believe that Jeff Horton is the next Head Coach In Waiting, so over the next two years Nussmeier could train his replacement. I believe that if the Aztecs were to change the offense scheme to the Spread next season, I would not expect a Championship season in 2015, because of the drastic changes that would be necessary and learn period required. So go with a guy that can fit in next season that is dynamic enough to transition to the Spread offense over time....Go State!...walkonfan

Instead of thinking retreads, or old school why not go for Scott Frost (Ore. OC), or Doug Meacham, Sonny Cumbie OC's from TCU. They seem to know how to put up points! Why on earth would a Pac 12 championship team OC come down to the MW to take the same job? Lol, it would even be a far fetch if it was for the HC position, but to even think that he would come down to this conference as a OC says that you are very confused about college football.

>: Wow you guys are very irritable. Must things always have to be spelled out? How many teams are still running the Pro-Style offense even in the Pac 12, Mac etc.? Not that many out there ha. He needs to prove himself as an OF again to get to the Head Coaching gig. What better place than the west coast? The only real hurdle is can we pay him appropriately. I don't hear of him being consider for open Head Coach jobs this season, but could be wrong anything can happen!...walkonfan

Apparently I am really tired today. I read this thread title as "Why do you want to be the next OC?" and thought it was an interview thread. What kind of an offense do you run??

Don't have a name to throw out there, but I'd like it if they stayed with the pro style offense. Just add in some zone read stuff for JR. Think Russell Wilson and the Seahawks. Thats the sentiment Rocky expressed. I would love to go after someone on the Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Seahawks or maybe even the 49ers staff...They will be out of a job by seasons end lol Of course it would be a lower level coach from the staff.

multiple both pro set and spread. Dave Schramm knows both offenses is hard nosed, knows the mWC and knows SDSU. Affordable. If Horton wants it then give it to him.

I'm sticking with the name I threw out yesterday. Sterlin Gilbert. He only makes $100K at Bowling Green. He's coached under Babers and Briles. He's young. He knows Texas. He won the FCS Offensive Coordinator of the Year award.

Well, last time I played NCAA Football 2007, I did either "TE cross" or "HB toss" every play and it seemed to work just fine.

Some one that actually goes out and recruits QB's and then evaluates their skills then installs a system that makes the QB perform at the highest level . Develops the QB 's . Become a school that is noted for its QB's , the only way you get quality QB's is if the thought out there is we are back to a QB school .

As a result it has terrible time of possession. BGSU was second to last in the nation in TOP this year at 25:00. That will destroy our defense and knowing Rocky he won't put up with that.

If he does well in the next two years he would be in_line for a Head Coach position. You mean because Michigan's offense was so much better with him as OC than Al Borges? Lol. Rocky would like to see SDSU use both a spread and pro style. However, once he hires an OC, it will be completely up to that guy to make the decision. If SteveEM is correct that Jeff Horton has no interest in being an OC again - and it wouldn't surprise me if Steve hasn't heard from somebody who would know that's the case - then I'd like to see Rocky bring back Al Borges. Big Al's been criticized by some for not recruiting good QBs for Ludwig and Toledo to use but as I've said, Al had all of 1.5 recruiting cycles to do that so I think such criticism is a bit unfair. I also think Al got thrown under the bus by Tuberville at Auburn and Hoke at Michigan and so would come here with fire in his ample belly to prove his worth. I have no particular objection to most of the young guys whose names have been mentioned. However, would an old guy like Rocky hire a young up-and-comer whom he might feel was looking over his shoulder to replace him as HC? I highly doubt it.

Let's just say that I do not think Sipes has done a good job in identifying, recruiting and coaching QB's. That being said, if we truly are going to a spread or zone read offense, then you have to closely look at Sipes, his background and honestly his failure here. Change the offense and the coaches.
