Believe most of the AAU tournaments are done , so do not expect him to move up the boards . He is a steady player that may not jump out on the stat sheets . August is a "quiet" time when recruits can go visit schools . Then September -October is open contact time for the recruits and coaches ,before the early signing week in the beginning of November .

All one has to do is read Winston Shepard's tweet from yesterday to know that ALL current players and recruits are thinking about the ramifications of the P5 autonomy vote. Hemsley and Jones won't even step foot on campus for another year... well after the first wave of changes are voted on in January. Recruits are making decisions now that will affect (possibly) the next 5+ years of their lives. No one said there is 'no' reason to consider SDSU... but you are being incredibly naïve... if you think all non-P5 recruits aren't seeking counsel/guidance on the big picture. SDSU may very well match all stipends/benefits that the P5 offer, but what if the majority of schools in the MWC don't? How appealing is it going to be for players at SDSU and similar schools to be playing against glorified high school talent? What happens if the P5, in basketball, move towards scheduling only other P5 schools? You may not be thinking about these questions... but I guarantee you that ALL recruits are.

I would think that if SDSU sponsors/donors can take care of coach contract shortcomings (in the form of a check to SDSU) then they can cover these costs no problem whatsoever.

If you can't back up your claim with evidence or at least a proven history of being right on other such claims...than you and your guarantees are worthless...

The P5 vote has been all over the news , so yes most recruits are going to ask coaches how the new rules affect them in MBB . Would guess Sterk has discussed the issues with the Aztec Coaching staff and they probably have made calls to the guys explaining all they know for now . Feel that if nothing else going forward MBB & WBB will match the stipends issue 26 scholarships @ $5,000 =$130 ,000. MW as of now is letting each school decide so we do not know what every school will do . But it sure seems that the MW has already gone to a conference with only 2 MM offers , and some maybe's . So the competition is not what it used to be just 4 or 5 years ago. The Aztecs and Rebels have had a good recruiting class for 2014 . Both schools know how important your OOC schedule is and have scheduled good ones to compensate for the low ranking of the MW conference . The other schools IMO have not and could have difficulties later .Will this hurt the Aztecs and Rebel's recruiting , do not know, sure glad the practice facility is in progress . Aztecs have a couple fairly good recruits for 2015 , Rebels usually have a late surge with their AAU connections nation wide , will they this year or will the P5 affect them and us , come the early signing date for NLI 's,I do not know . It would be foolish to totally ignore the issue (do not think the Aztec coaches & Sterk have) . On the other hand Aztecs may not just look for the total blue chip guys but also the "Aztec family ' guys . So we will see as these issues come to the table .

It's not that the MWC (as a whole) has any difficulty scheduling quality OOC teams...they have just had a difficult time beating OOC opponents...heck...LB State has had one of the most difficult OOC schedule these past 5 years...the problem is that their record is piss-poor against those quality opponents so it doesn't really matter who they play (Bill may correct me...but I don't believe that a team gets any RPI points for losing...) The reason that the MWC conference got 4 teams into the tourney was due to the overall RPI of the league based on a great winning record against OOC opponents (albeit not the most difficult of schedule)... If the MWC teams go out and win again OOC opponents this year...then our league RPI will be high...and we will have a chance to get more teams into the tourney...that's the way it works

Last year the MW had two schools in MM and zero in the NIT. This year looks like the same thing for MM. Aztecs and Rebels have a good OOC the other schools "bubble teams " do not . Most of the "experts " do not think much of the MW and that is why Coach Fisher tried to have only 16 conference games while the others wanted the 18 or 20 . The range schools can not get decent schools to come to their arenas. Aztecs and Rebels know the MW is considered a weak conference , want an opportunity to play in MM and have scheduled a decent OOC . The bottom half of the MW is not very good so we get dinged when we play them . Lose and it looks bad . The middle group say UNM, BSU, CSU are going to need to schedule some decent teams in OOC and win some games for the conference to look decent , do not think they have too many on their OOC schedule this year . Your total resume of games is what the selection group is looking at for MM . Important for the Aztecs , BYU and Utah both have their AD's on the selection group for MM . Back to the poster , I do not think the P5 vote is a game breaker Today for recruits in MBB , but could be an issue for some and the conference we play in .

If the 65 P5 teams played each other exclusively I think the general public would quickly become bored. If you take Cinderella out of the story the plot gets kind of dull. Yeah $ drives the NCAA but this is not a viable long term solution IMHO. The fact that George Mason, VCU & Wichita St have made recent Final Fours and Butler was in the finals in consecutive years is what makes NCAA hoops the greatest sport on earth. To take this out of the equation would be a bad business decision and extremely short sided.

Moved up to 53 on the new Scout rankings. and up to #68 from #77 on Rivals. Of course he's #75 on ESPN from as low as #52, but they have a serious East Coast bias.

wow we're going to be good in a couple of years (and probably this year)... two recruiting classes in a row, one with three 4* recruits all in the top 100 and the next year so far we have two 4* recruits in the top 100, after very rarely ever landing even one of them previously (Winston and Kawhi are the only ones that come to mind immediately). amazing how far sdsu basketball has come.
We've been as good as we have with solid talent, but now that we are bringing in Elite talent it's pretty fun to think about how good we could get
Our starting 5 in 2 or 3 years will probably be nothing but four and five star recruits... probably even our top 7 players will be all top teir recruits
