My guess is we put others players before him when he announced he was waiting till the Spring to commit. I think we are in a position where we can get a solid commitment from a 3-star kid with lot's of upside and not have to wait. Which is what we did with Jones. A few years ago we probably would have waited for a Top 150 3-star player but now I only see us waiting till the Spring if it's a guy who's going to make a major impact as a freshmen. There's good and bad about waiting till the Spring to sign. Think Grimes has the potential to be better than Cole Huff.
Glad we got Jones when we did. I think he'll continue to improve and if he grows another inch or two he'll be a huge steal.

the coaches are not allowed to say anything about recruits . The recruits can say what they want . There has not been much coming out of the summer practice session . That could determine what the coaches think are the team's needs for 2015 and going forward. August is a time when recruits can visit but coaches can not travel . Fall practice also starts the last week of August . Maybe more will be known about Malik Pope's health and if Zylan Cheatham is cleared to play. September - October is the totally open time for recruiting and a week the early part of November is early signing time. Aztecs could still be recruiting or willing to hold off for transfers .

What is Malik Popes health status and Zylans eligibility?

Believe the only comments coming out of SS practices are that Malik had not been playing but has been shooting on the sidelines , impressing Coach Fisher with his shooting . Zylan still had one HS class that he was trying to get cleared and was nursing a bad foot , coaches hope both issues will be resolved by the start of fall classes /practice 8/25. Would look forward to hearing something from Zeigler at the UT who attends some of the practices

seems strange he goes to NC for his last year of HS then selects a couple of BIG schools (both mid tier ) then some schools out here in the West - again mid tier at best . He must want PT as a freshman . I would wait to see if he announces his formal visits for September or October . If he waits until the Spring Aztec coaches would know for sure if is Shepard going to turn pro.

playing time is important..!! I would kiss this one goodbye. We have 13 scholarship players now. Hemsely and Jones fill the right spots. Save the chip for a transfer or 2016. Every year 500+ MBB players change schools SDSU is an upgrade for 99.9% of the programs out there.

I'd love to say that I agree with you, but.........

Have 12 scholarships already designated if all the guys come back and Hemsley , BJ . So can hold it for transfer or could let Grimes or E.A visit to see if it is a solid connection . Also Depends what the coaching staff is seeing from current players . 13 players is not easy to manage. Scholarship could also open up if Shepard decides to turn pro or if guys transfer .

Therefore he is right It is a joke...don't think about it too much.
