Spent 2 weeks in Dutch with really cr@ppy Internet service and bad TV. I only got delayed 1 day coming home. Some of the guys were 4 days late getting in from Anchorage.

Hey, I for one look forward to the annual Dutch Harbor story. It's a signpost that must be passed and tells you that opening kickoff ain't all that far away anymore. Plus, now that I've got my first Alaska trip under my belt (as of last summer), can't get enough info on the place.

Not sure about the quotas, red kings were fished last fall, now the brown crab guys are gearing up to start longlining their pots along ledges out in the Aleutians. Heavy gear, strong tides rough stuff. Brown crab can be a good buy.

Say what you will about him, but that is one scintillating story he tells of his stay in Dutch Harbor. The man is a storyteller.

Jim, did you want to hear the one about my soggy shoes on the 3rd of June when it was raining sideways and we had 2 40' container vans of scientific collecting gear to offload? Didn't think so. Being in Dutch is a lot like the movie "Ground Hog Day"!

Knowing the stylishly rakish Fishin' Aztec as I do, I must tell you that he embodies the style, looks, panache, breeding and education you need to hold your own in the rarified social climate found in Dutch Harbor.

I went to Dutch once to do some Halibut Fishing. Great fishing. The town a very unique place. Getting there and back was quite the adventure as well. I don't plan on going back but going there once was truly a great experience.
