I am beginning to wonder if we can pull out of the trouble at all. I would move to Texas if my wife would go with me. She won't so I won't.
I watched one of these focus groups on TV last night talking about the Meg Whitman maid story. The group was made up entirely of California voters. I was amazed at just how stupid my friends and neighbors are. The liberals in the group could not even express rational thoughts when presented with the facts as have been documented. They believe what is proved right before them to be false. I can not even come close to seeing how some of those people can find jobs or function in any fashion near what we would consider normal. I know it is wrong and we have made laws outlawing some things that would help like literacy tests and poll taxes to vote.

Yeah, I think I saw the same show. It's totally obvious that the Brown campaign is behind this. Now the really serious problems we have are being ignored.
What will Jerry do when he is governor again? Has he even hinted at how he would solve our problems? My guess is that, even if he tried to bring about needed changes, he would be no more successful than Arnold. My guess is that either right now or pretty soon, the pols in Sacramento (perhaps of both parties) are going to reach the conclusion that their only hope is to receive a federal bailout. The problem is that with the GOP (probably) in control of the House, the chances of that happening are zero.
And even if there were a bailout, the state would need another one in a couple of years because nothing will be done to change the fundamentals in this state. The Democrats, and some Republicans, are incapable of deviating from the "progressive" agenda which has ruined this state.
If California were a sovereign nation it would be Greece or Argentina. This is not a pretty picture.

Just a few weeks ago my Dad and I discussed the way this state is heading. He said if it wasn't for his age and his grandchildren being close by, he would sell everything and move to Texas. If it wasn't for the damn humidity, I would have moved there years ago. I love the hill country outside of Austin. California has to completely overhaul the way it does business. For WAY too many years our tax and spend politicians have been living way over our means. No one has been held fiscally accountable. We cannot be giving away $#!+ we don't have to people who have no right to it.
Should MAJOR changes not come to our spending in govt., we will fall further and further. And more will leave.

This is not a pretty picture. AzWm If California was a sovereign nation it would be one of the leading countries in the world. California free of Federal Restriction would boom. Remember it is the Federal Government that is trying to ruin the farming industry in this state. Federal Rules on employment are hurting jobs in this state. Almost everything the Federal Government does is damaging California. If we were free of the Federal Government, California would soar. We need to declare our independence now or continue to suffer. Brown, by the way has answered your question about what he would do to correct this horribly oppressive situation brought on by the Federal Government. He has made it very, very clear that the only way to offset the restrictions on the state government that have been mandated during the 8 years of the corrupt Bush administration is to put a lot of the support of growth and efficiency down on the county and city government level. The Federal government with its "Screw the Big States" efforts does not legislate down to the City and County levels of government.

An independent California would be the solution of all of our problems. To facilitate strong growth, it would behoove the state to annex Baja California. Historically, WE DID on three different occasions, but the Federal Government made us give it back to Mexico all three times.
Now, that was stupid Federal Government at its worst.
California could annex Oregon, Nevada, Utah and Arizona along with Baja and create one of the strongest countries in the world. The Baja tourism industry alone would double the income of the state. Farming would greatly increase and boost income by another forty percent if we removed all of the Federal restrictions illegally levied against the Great State of California. Industry would abound and without Federal Taxes to burden the businesses, industrial growth would skyrocket.
Unfortunately, the Federal Government would never OK our independence as it wants to continue to rape California like Muhammad did to all the Jewish wenches he captured when he made war on defenseless Jewish tribes about 600 AD.

Reduce or Abolish the State sales tax. That is the quickest way to getting the State economy back on track.
Over regulated, over taxed, that is why California is going broke.

Let me put it this way Win. 8 foot weeds creeping over my fence, when our fence fell down and I replaced it my cost, she complained about the height! It took 3 giant dumpsters to empty her garage when she moved...enough said? Oh well, it was a Godsend she moved, cause she would have forced us out of the neighborhood and we would be "underwater" right now!

No poll taxes or literacy requirements for our electorate. In fact those who are most literate shold be prohibited from voting as they are influenced by political propaganda, whereas the illiterate masses don't pay political propaganda no mind, no how.

California's only realistic chance of solving these structural problems (which are mostly down to the state workers unions and the ridiculous burden of the current pension system) is to declare insolvency (bankruptcy), and have all those contracts voided.
That way the state could start over with some more realistic contracts and live within it's means.

Live within its means? Not California!

That way the state could start over with some more realistic contracts and live within it's means. That would be a way, but do not believe that it can be done. In the debate the other night, addressing that problem is one of the few things that Brown said that make sense. He said start a two tier system and gradually work your way out of the present problem over time. Gov Moonbeam did not say it exactly like that, but that is what he meant.
