Why are you guys playing FGCU twice in the same year? (I'm feigning interest as I ask this) East Coast exposure, yo thank you for the feigning appearance of interest Did they even do any good last year, after Coach Enfield's career move on behalf of his hot wife? (Edit) I couldn't feign enough interest to Google it myself.

Wooden Classic teams UTEP, Long Beach ,San Jose , Princeton, Washington, Western Michigan , Xavier , USD.. Not as good as last year's group. Maybe Long Beach gets to host games for some additional money . Should get additional money for some of their tough road games . Did LBSU also bring in a new assistant coach from LMU to help them recruit ?

Those LBSU and UCSB schedules right up there should dispel the "we can't afford a good schedule" argument.

Those LBSU and UCSB schedules right up there should dispel the "we can't afford a good schedule" argument. Depends what you mean by "afford". If you mean attracting teams to Viejas all but one of the quality games are on the road where they get paid. Only KSU coming to LB is a payout game. If you're talking loading up on quality teams, even if on the road, I think the schedules mentioned offer a good mix of good games & confidence builders. Question for anyone on home scheduling. It's nice to pad the NC w/ quality opponents for RPI purposes given we're not a top conference, but from a financial perspective what is fiscally responsible? We're already selling out the season, so booking a UCLA & paying them a bunch more money isn't drawing any additional fans. TV money, maybe, but seems like from a financial perspective a low revenue program like SDSU would be better served playing the bigger games on the road or at neutral sites?? Also, what is everyone's thoughts on playing a game in Petco outdoors, similar to Midway?

Petco is perfect----for the Aztecs to play Baseball.

That Syracuse game on the midway totally turned me off to those outdoor games. I realize wind is different on a ship than it would be in Petco, but it'd still play a role and I think BBall has got to be played indoors.

Having said that, I am not totally against outdoor games. In fact, if the sports arena had a retractable roof -- that might be really cool. If the game were on a basketball court set up on the Balboa Stadium field at San Diego High or something similar I might give it a shot as an exhibition game, but not for anything that would count against our record.

Most importantly though, you can fit 20k+ in that type of configuration which would be fun. How about Aztecs vs. UCLA in Staples? Neutral, big ticket revenue possibilities...

Those LBSU and UCSB schedules right up there should dispel the "we can't afford a good schedule" argument. Anyone can "afford" to get paid to play in someone elses arena. The "affording" part comes in when you try to get teams to your place with no return game. That has to happen since we don't want to play half our OOC games on the road.

The Aztecs over the past 4 years have been in the upper half of the NCAA bracket every year. They have won the MWC title in 3 of those years. They have been rated in the AP poll, #5, #15, #13, #4. They have two sweet 16s. They have won games at Arizona, Kansas, Gonzaga, and New Mexico – 4 places that are not easy for an opponent to walk out victorious. They lost 2 players off a 30+ win team and add 5 players with 4 top 100 talent. They are rated in the teens in most early pre-season polls. UC fans should be very excited to host one of the top teams in the NCAA next year.

Thought I would share a very nice reponse to my post there:
Agreed. I think the lack of deserved respect for SDSU is similar to what UC basketball (and football) is going through. Unfortunately, not being in a Power 5 conference gets you overlooked by the more casual fans. For some reason, the MWC has been overlooked the past few years. Similar to the AAC last year, with SMU getting the NCAA Tournament snub.
Should be a good, high level contest. Congrats on your recent success. Fisher is really building something special out west. I know Bearcat nation will be tuned in for a great game. Hopefully, we fair better against you then we did against your conference last year when we shot just 29.5% from the field against New Mexico…. man that was ugly.

Looking for big wins in Seattle and Cincy, we can win anywhere and any time just ask Jayhawk nation. It will nice for Darin Johnson from Sheldon HS to see what it's like to be in a real program. Also, Marquese Chris anther Sacto kid can see what he missed out on. #leavelorenzoromar. Well see another PAC12 transfer in 2015 after JJ, Dwanye and Q graduate.

That sucks. Was really looking forward to that one. I only see 10 NC games - am I missing something on their schedule (+ exhibition)? They start with 4 cupcakes, then 4 tough ones, and conclude with 2 easy ones at home (the other SDSU will NOT be good this year). Or is their Utah tournament a 3-game round robin?? Their schedule is definitely tougher than their absolutely cake walk last year, but wouldn't really say it's brutal. 4 "A" games, and maybe 1 "B" level game, with the rest being "C" level. In other words, they have 4 top 50's but the rest are 250+ type of teams. None in that 75-150 range... Could definitely see them not wanting to add SDSD to those 4 though. If SDSU came out with this schedule would we be happy?
